I have a couple of rifles i need new optics for. I have a Nikon P223 on my AR and i also have one on my 220 swift.

My question is would it be appropriate to put one on my 7mm Rem Mag?
I also have an 8X57 mauser i would like to put one on.

I like the turret knobs and the zero reset. Will the scope hold up on anything larger than 223?

i handload and i use only nikons on all my other rifles. I like using the Nikon ballistic app for long range shooting.

The price is so good on the P-223 versus a comparable nikon standard BDC scopes.

I have one on a 300 BLK and I like it. I have no idea how they would hold up on a powerful caliber. Why not call Nikon and ask what they recommend.

Scopes

I will do that for sure tomorrow. Trying to figure the differences between the prostaff, monarch, buckmasters, and other variations is a little frustrating. I am trying to stay in the $150-$300 range and not jump up into the $500 plus which the monarchs and prostaff 7 start to go into!

I do get lots of opinions to get out of the nikon brand but since all other rifles have nikon glass i would love to stay with them!

Last week I bought a Nikon Monarch 3 for $399. It's a 2.5-10x42 with BDC reticle. I've mounted it but haven't had it to the range yet. So far I'm really happy with the clarity of the glass and the eye relief.

Monarch

Thanks Jeff for the info. I will check that one out as well. I want one scope 4x12. I want the other 3x9 or 2.5x10

Yes it is. I got an answer to some of it in this thread.

The P223 doesn't have the glass quality that the Monarch 3 has, that is easy to tell looking through them. I have not compared it side by side with my old ProStaff, but that wouldn't matter today after the changes anyway. It isn't as good as my old Buckmaster, which is said (In that thread) to be the probable equivalent to the new ProStaff 5.

I would like to see the scope manufacturers come out with some small scopes with higher quality glass, but I guess there isn't a big market for them. If they would just do the P-223 3X in a M-223 (better glass) version it would be nice.

Yep, I have one. Not very bright in low light. A 20MM objective doesn't let much in. I don't know why they don't make 1x3, 1x4, etc scopes with larger objectives.

If they made the 3X with better glass I would be all over it. Or even a 1X or 2X in the same size/pattern/32MM objective, that would be very nice.
