Image courtesy of Illumn, where I picked this up on closeout for $35. This isn't really a tactical light, but it's useful for the high intensity output (long throw), and long run times. Independent hobbyist testers have verified Nitecore's claims that the body on this series of lights is a giant heat sink, and that they have very long constant run times. The 1000 lumen turbo mode tapers down to 800 lumens after a few minutes, and then it just sits at 800 lumens for about 2 hours without stepping down. The 425 lumen high mode stays right around 400 lumens for the entire 4 hour 45 minute run time. This is a light that you can run on high for hours, with effectively no step-down, and never be in danger of overheating the LED. This will be my suburban 'yote spotter in high or turbo, and long run time light just in case there's a power outage this winter.

I'm surprised at how small and light weight this light is. It's just over an eighth of an inch longer than a 2xAA Mini Mag Lite, and the body isn't much thicker either. Scanning the back yard tonight while walking the dog has shown that it does indeed throw quite well. Compared to my Olight M2R, this EC4GT just doesn't get hot. I'm hopeful that it'll be quite durable with the excellent thermal characteristics.
