….on back cover of May American Rifleman. #1, It looks to me like the gun is aimed right at his important parts. Not where I want a gun barrel pointed, that’s for sure.
#2. the title “It;s Your Duty to be ready”. All in caps. so are they trying to lay a guilt trip on us, or what.

Maybe I’m having a bad day, but that ad just rubs me the wrong way,, I’ll decide what my duty is or isn’t,,,don’t need a shill to tell me.

Well, it is going into an Appendix Inside the Waistband (AIWB) holster that is a very common carry method, and his trigger finger is indexed outside of the trigger guard.

Note the photo on page 77, with the Brazilian soldier carrying an S&W revolver.

How about page 78 with the soldier with the 1911 pointed at the guy next to him, and he has his finger inside the trigger guard.
 
Well, my take on seeing the ad is that the guy is clearly either withdrawing from or inserting back into a holster, so no, I didn't take it the same way as what irked the OP.
