I'm looking for a 16"-18" barrel for a DMR ar-15 build. My price limit is $450, can get a nitrocarburized barrel for that much? If so, who makes it and where can I get one?

AR15 performance sells them I believe but that may be only for the 6.8 SPC. I'm not totally sure about their 5.56 barrels. Hope this helps

I don't know of anyone selling a stripped barrel with that treatment.

You could get a DSA half-complete upper (no bolt group) for around $300 with a nitrided barrel and then put on the free-float of your own choice. Probably your cheapest option. That would be "merely" a 4140 button-rifled barrel however.

A company called Superior Barrels offers something they call hard blue which looks like probably a nitriding treatment. They do sell plain barrels. I don't know prices however.

well, i guess i'll have to settle for a 410SS or something like it. i heard noveske was doing nitro but i can't find anything on their website to that effect.

the DSA sounds like a killer deal, if i didn't already have a 16'' gov't profile barreled upper, i'd be all over that. add a BCM carrier group to that and you're GTG for $440! wow, i wish i wasn't such a novice when i bought my rifle. live and learn...

I assume you mean a 5.56 DMR (though a 6.8 would be sweet). Contact them at the above link and see what they have that is not on the site. They are another example of great gun guys but lousy web techies. Their customer service is top notch and can point you in the right direction if they don't offer it.
