Hi to all, i have a question that i can't find an answer to locally.
I Went to my local 'big box' sporting goods store today to buy some ammo that was sale priced. Due to the prices on ammo these days, i tend to buy more of it when it's on sale, like nearly everyone else i suspect. I normally like to buy & keep a few boxes of each caliber or guage in the off season when it's more reasonably priced, then use it throughout the year and replace it during the occasional sale here and there. The 9mm & .38 spl. in particular were soooo inexpensive today that i was tempted to buy a heck of a lot more than i did.
Anyway the question is this;
Does anyone know if there is any specific law here in NJ, or any over-riding federal law, regarding the quantity of ammo one may have at a specific time? I'd really rather not have that old expression "ignorance of the law is no excuse" end up being used against me, especially when no one, not even my local LEO's seem to have an answer.

I'm not a lawyer, etc, ad nauseum.

I'm a reasonably well informed layman on NJ gunlaw, having previously lead the perilous and exciting life of a NJ gunowner before fleeing the state for the sake of my life, liberty and sanity.

AFAIK, NJ does not regulate the amount of ammunition a subject may posess in his home.

Incidentally, it's common for people to take advantage of sales and stock up, buying in bulk. Thousands and thousands of rounds on hand isn't that hard to accumulate.

For reloading you can keep several dozen pounds of gunpowder without any special storage requirements.

Buy away!!! You can keep all you want. You may have to produce a DL for anything that can be shot out of a handgun though. Some places ask for it, some don't.

The home of Lou629 was raided by a SWAT team today, where authorities found 2 handguns and more than 20 rounds of ammunition. Neighbors were appalled to hear that such an arsenal was in located right in their own neighborhood. "I had no idea," stated one neighbor. "He seemed like such a nice guy."

:D

LOL TALLPINE!!!

I was ROTFLMAO at that
Unfortunately, that headline could ultimately come to pass, this being NJ and all....LOL!!!
