No automatic pistols. Conspiracy?

The bass pro in So Cal has always had good inventory on automatics until the past few months. I figured it was the same everywhere else. But the same store in Vegas has plenty. I can't buy that manufacturers don't want to supply and sell to one of the worlds largest economies (CA) due to some strict laws.

Any Store In California...

Selling semi-autos have to sell firearms approved for sale in California, they have a magazine capacity law of what, 10 rounds? About the only semi-autos I know with that limitation is the 1911 based pistols (or a Hi Point).

There are over 1300 handguns approved for sale in California, and probably more than 60% are auto-loaders. While magazine capacity is limited to 10 rounds, most makers, including Glock, supply 10 round magazines for their pistols. So although it's a pain, there are still quite a number of auto-loaders that can be sold in California.

Last week I travelled from El Paso, Texas to Odessa, Texas. I stopped in Van Horn for a break and every other car in the station was from California. Every one! One even had a sign on the back window saying,"Texas or Bust!" Talking to a few there confirmed these were not vacationers. The attendent told me he had never seen so many people leaving California as he had since the schools let out for the summer. People are voting with their feet.

yeah maybe. And maybe I need to get out of so cal one of these days

No doubt, what was it I just heard on the news, something about the state sending out IOU's in stead of tax refunds. Guess the MJ funeral cost the taxpayer a bit more than they thought.........

Guess they decided to shut down weapon suppliers to subdue the uprising about to happen in Cali. That said they do have some rediculous laws.

No conspiracy.

As has been pointed out, the CA store is not getting supplied with the same stock as the other stores.

The CA guns are different than the ones for the rest of the country. The low cap 10 rounders for one. They are very specific models, which were approved "safe".

The CA approved version may have extra safeties such as a magazine disconnect, which may not be obvious when looking at the model in another state.

Also, the manufacturers are catching up on demand. If they are trying to fulfill orders, when they have the production line cranking, which do you think they are going to do, crank out a bunch for a specific market, or are they going to crank out the ones that can be sold to the rest of the nation?
Once they have the rest of the nation supplied so to speak, they can then go about retooling production lines for specialty orders.

That's another reason why CA guns often have like $50-$100 mark up compared to what others are paying.

Have a little more patience. From the sounds of things, the inventory for the rest of the country is normalizing.
