So a friend of mine recently had a denial for an SBR after paying his $200 bribe and waiting 17 weeks. The problem? Wrong model of gun selected on the drop down menu on the ATF's website. Sig Sauer has a 516, P516 and Sig516, his is a Sig516 and he selected 516 on the menu. No corrections allowed on an eform according to the ATF, straight up denial and he gets to do the whole process over again (which, being his first one, he decided wasn't worth it and not to reapply).

Was it his fault? Yep. Point is, don't F'ing miss a thing. :banghead:

Surprised they caught it. I may or may not have errors on my last efile :)

Just tell him to refile. Don't take this stuff personally.

I told him to stop acting like a special snowflake and just reapply but he's being stubborn. :)

Ryanxia.......he gets to do the whole process over again (which, being his first one, he decided wasn't worth it and not to reapply).
Wow.
"Whole process" = Five whole minutes filling out a form.

Does he tantrum every time the line at WalMart gets backed up?:D

It's not the filling it out part but waiting the 17+ weeks. You don't wait in line for 17 weeks at Walmart do you? :)
But yes I agree he should just suck it up.

17 weeks are going to go by regardless. If at the end of the 17 weeks he gets a SBR or at the end he doesnt get an SBR is entirely his choice.

I know, thats what I said. The point of the thread was more a reminder to double check your forms :)

So how did they make the determination of which model is correct? I just put one in for an MPX, and had to chose between SIG MPX, and SIG-MPX-P. I went with the first choice, since that's what's stamped on the receiver, though the box it came in says SIG-MPX-P-9. :banghead:

In the Schedule A of his Trust we correctly labeled it as SIG516, but on the dropdown menu of theirs he just saw 516 and picked it. I don't believe Sig has a SIG516 AND a 516 so not sure why that's even an option.

I accidentally forgot to fill out the reason for making box when I filed for my SBR. An examiner's clerk called me and left a message. I submitted a revised form and it was approved a week later.

Wonder what changed?

Was that a paper form or eform? The woma at the ATF office specifically said changes to eforms cannot be made.

You can a whole new Form 1 and pay the $200, AGAIN, and then email ATF and get it approved the same day. Happened to me for a different error. The real problem is that it takes almost 90 days before I saw the refund from the rejected Form 1.

We asked about that and they assured him they would not look at his new form 'ahead of time'. He was going back to the 'bottom of the pile' as it were.

There were reports of this shortly after eforms came out. No corrections (although they are still done on paper forms). You need to be super careful.

Of course I went back and reviewed my pending forms for errors. Even six weeks into it, it would be frustrating. Look good though.

The impression I've gotten is that the rule is no corrections to eforms, but that the rule was bent when eforms were new. Whether that was because they felt like they were still working out the bugs or because the volume was lower, I'm not sure. But it may be that they're applying the rule strictly now.

Either way, the wait time is considerably shorter than paper forms, so might as well resubmit. It also couldn't hurt to call and talk to the examiner when you do. They might bend the rule again and approve it faster, no matter what they say now.

That is really something that should be handled in a PM if a true address. Might want to consider editing that.

I have seen Mr. Clutter's name (and email address) mentioned in a number of other places as well. I think there was a post on the Prince Law blog a couple of years ago not long after the efiling process was first implemented.

+1
Ted Clutter is well known as the "fixer" at NFA Branch.

I believe that the dropdown is populated by previous entries of those who have filed -- not by the ATF. So if someone put '516' by itself into the field by mistake, it will live on for others to choose in error as well.
