No Guns allowed at Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings == Gringo wings! If that is all you got I feel sorry for you!

Isn't Buffalo New York pretty deep into "Gringo" territory? Just 'cause its spicy don't mean its messican (Plenty of Thai restaurants that'll make the cholos cry like little niñas ... for example).

razorback2003, in some states a business posting a sign carries with it special legal weight. Carrying into an establishment that is posted in these states is a crime ... and recommending one break the law is not High Road (that said, I live in Colorado where the signs mean bupkis and I pretty much carry wherever I want).

The 50% rule sounds pretty cool. Here in my state (South Carolina) the law says a gun is forbidden inside any property that allows the consumption of alcohol.

Their spicy wing challenge isn't even that hot. I say let em pass, I'll make homemade wings, at least I can open carry there.

Imagine a scenario where a BWW gets robbed and you get injured while the robber fires blindly into the crowd. Could you file a lawsuit against the BWW corporation for failing to provide for you the constitutional right and protection their policies forbid?has a good si

The state I live in has a substantial "grey area" when dealing with restaurants / bars and legal concealed firearms. To be on the safe side, I always lock the gun in a case in the trunk of the car when indulging in the drink.

"No Guns" signs = No patronage from my wife or I... I just don't trust a 8.5"x11" sign on the front door of a business to deter violent criminals.

FWIW, this appears to be a decision being made at the franchise level, not at BWW corporate. Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) took a look at this in the Richmond, VA area: http://www.vcdl.org/static/gue.html#Buffalo Wild Wings

Eating out is getting tougher and tougher. No Firearms Permitted signs seem to be at more and more places around here: Buffalo Wild Wings, Bungalow Billiards, Fuddruckers, Green Turtle, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster (though not eating there might save my life, gastronomically speaking :barf:), TGI Fridays, plus just about all the local shopping malls around my area (which zero's out all the eateries there...).

Seems to me that there are two issues here:

1. The legality of carrying, be it OC or CC, in an establishment.

In some places, there are laws that prevent the carrying of weapons in certain places. In Louisiana it is illegal to carry a firearm in the following places:

a) any commercial establishment in which alcoholic beverages of either high or low alcoholic content are sold in individual servings for consumption on the premises, whether or not such sales are a primary or incidental purpose of the business of the establishment.

b) A "firearm-free zone" is an area inclusive of any school campus and within one thousand feet of any such school campus, and within a school bus

c) It is unlawful for any person who has not attained the age of seventeen years knowingly to possess any handgun on his person.

2. The establishment policy

A privately owned establishment can ask you to leave at any time they wish for any or no reason.

As far as the establishment, don't spend $$$ there. I know I'm not going to support something that I disagree with.

In terms of the law, roll the dice if you will.

I always carry in places that state no carry, don't tell and they wont know.

I support the idea that a private business owner should be able to allow or disallow specific activities on their premises... the most obvious example where states and local municipalities got involved is smoking. In my opinion, someone should be able to open a bar that caters to smokers, rather than banning smoking in the bar and instead turning the sidewalk outside of every bar into a smoking section (for the record, I'm not a smoker).
As was said earlier in the thread, there is ZERO legitimate health, safety or liability reason for banning lawful concealed carry. That is an entirely different category than second hand smoke in an enclosed space, which does have measurable detrimental health effects.

I did a bit of research in law review articles and asked attorneys. No article or lawyer suggested that you could sue for not being allowed to carry and were injured in a crime. Sounds good but doesn't seem to be a possible doctrine for suit for legal reasons or finding an attorney who would take it as a case.

Buffalo wings came from the Anchor Bar in Buffalo. Ate there in my time and in fact had lunch there during my draft physical.

Taking my family to grapevine mills mall to the new Lego land . I thought I had read on some post that the mall had a 30.30 sign does any one know if that is correct? HAVE A GREAT FOURTH and GOD BLESS AMERICA

We have one and I GOTTA check

Just opened one in Niagara Falls and I gotta check and see if they have such a sign.

If they do I will be sure to speak to the manager to find out if it is corporate stuff.

Either way I want to hear what they have to say ,and I will be in touch with a CEO if one is available so they have my input.

The best move would have been to ignore the non-legally binding sign and say nothing. In all likelyhood, 30.06 signs will be up shortly and it will be a crime to enter with a CCW.

Yes, Grapevine Mills mall is 30.06 posted... At the Mall entrances. The anchor stores that have external entrances aren't posted though. Technically speaking, this means they aren't properly posted and you can go in through an anchor store and claim you never encountered a 30.06 sign. You'll still get kicked if caught and will probably have too explain to the police the absence of the 30.06 sign.. who may or may not believe you..

Too much of a hassle.

This type of question comes up all the time. The answer is you can file any lawsuit you want but in the scenario described it isn't going anywhere.

You DON'T have to go there; besides, over 90% of sales are paid by credit card anymore, and why would a robber start wildly shooting?

You have better odds getting hit by lightning

Why not draft a letter and send it to corporate? We could make it a very friendly inquiry. We will find out quicklly if it's just that one spot or all of them.
We then could keep it on file and use it in the future when this happens again.
Dear Sirs, bla ba. Just a little affirmative action

Yep - around here virtually every restaurant besides fast-food (and even some of those) is a no-carry zone simply due to the alcohol clause. If they sell so much as beer and it's served so as to be consumed on-site, then you can't carry there.

Also of note is that in South Carolina, the postings do carry legal weight. If you ignore it and carry your weapon into a property that is properly posted, then you're committing a crime. I'm not sure if it's a misdemeanor or a felony, but at a minimum you're looking at losing your CWP, and worse case scenario you could lose the right to own a firearm for the rest of your life. Be sure to know your state's laws before non-chalantly ignoring such signs.

Best bet regardless of laws is to simply take your business elsewhere, and write them a letter letting them know this and why you're doing it.

Why?
Because the sign as posted has no legal meaning in the state of Texas.....and contacting their corporate office wiil undoubtably lead them to posting a lawful sign.

The OP (and other non Texas residents) are making the situation worse for Texas CHL holders.

regardless of their politcal standing, I love their food and waitresses. With the exception of one I ate at outside richmond Va, the serivce has been very friendly, prompt, and easy on the eyes. I'm not gonna just start going someplace I don't enjoy as much just because they 'forbid' me to carry a weapon inside. That's silly. As far as I'm concerned, a business owner can do with their establishment what they please.

Not allowing the carry of weapons isn't going to get anyone shut down anytime soon. Didn't work in the 1800's, it sure isn't going to work now.

Come to think of it, I'm going to BWW this weekend for a burger, onion rings, some honey BBQ wings, and a cold draft beer. Yummy.

Ate at the one in Rockwall a few weeks ago. Saw the sign posted... was not 30.06 so I paid it no mind. Had good food, a beer and a good time. Went home and slept like a baby.

Wasn't broke... so I didn't fix it.
