No Guns To MD from Bud's Gun Shop

While I do not know Bud's specifics, I do know others who have just decided the risk of coming afoul of one of the complicated and RIDICULOUS gun laws that MD has, it's just not worth the risk. MD also has a history of attacking dealers with frivolous lawsuits when a gun is inadvertently shipped which does not comply with the rules. And calling your State AG to find out if a weapon is legal to ship there is not exactly a customer friendly type of call.

Its not just maryland, Ca, MA, NY, and NJ are often on that list of "its just not worth the hassle" states. When I was working at the shop, we refused to deal with people from those states, often because the people calling up and ordering were people with CC billing addresses that came back to state office buildings. We ran a small shop but had a good business posting things in the shot gun news and gun list, but we decided that it was not worth our time keeping up with which guns were ok and which were not, and it was easy enough to just say no.

Sorry if it's not the answer you want, but its the answer I think your going to get from Bud's. The best answer I can give you is overthrow your corrupt State government, or move.

98C5 - I am relaxed. While I appreciate the attention that this thread has recieved, the fact is that none of it has been what I've asked for. If you recall, this is what I posted:

My question is this - has anyone ever gotten the reasoning behind Bud's not shipping ANY guns to MD from either Bud himself or someone who works there? I'm talking about an actual answer, not what people have heard, or were told by a friend, etc.

I've bolded the important bits there. That's why I'm frustrated - because I asked a very specific question, and have continued to recieve answers that don't help me a bit. Even after clarifing what info I'm looking for, and adding the statement that I'd rather the thread get NO replies, people are still posting things that are not even close to what I asked for.

So can you see why I'm a little frazzled? I don't mean it personally, but when one has to continually re-state what they're looking for, and then clarify and defend themselves from people who read into something too much (like brickeye) and decide to give them a bit of the business
about it, one gets a little weary.

My apologies, for what it's worth. Please, nobody bother responding to this post anymore, as I don't want anyone else (including myself) to continue to get butt-hurt over it. I've requsted a thread closure by the Mods, hopefully they can get to it soon, and we can all move on.

Well kingpin, you asked a question on a Saturday. Buds isn't open Saturday. SO, we gave you an opinion of why. If you want to know the REAL reason, wait until they open, don't post on a weekend. We just tried to help. You obivoiuosly are just pissed off, period. Sorry, man, but they will help your answer when they open.

98C5 - I realized that I asked on a Saturday, and that they're not open weekends. I don't see why that matters though, seeing as how I asked if anyone had heard directly from them about the issue. What would it matter what day they were open, if I were asking if anyone besides them had any info?

And yes, I know that the people who posted are just trying to help, which is why I stated numerous times that I appreciated the attention that the thread had recieved. While I sncerely DO appreciate that attention, it is extremely frustrating when nobody seems to be able to comprehend what answer I'm looking for. As I also stated numerous times before, I would much rather that the thread got zero replies, than a ton of off-topic ones.

I'm not just pissed off, period. I am frustrated at what a run-around this thread has become for all parties involved. Especially when it didn't have to be that way. Know what I mean?

If I were just pissed off, I wouldn't bother posting here, because I don't want to be banned from posting here. I like it here, and I generally like the people who post here. I value the information here. That's why I asked what I thought was a simple question, and why I got so frustrated when it turned into a cluster-f##k.

Bottom line, I have no problem whatsoever with you, or any of the other folks who posted responses to this thread. Does it bother me that what seems like a simple question can't find an equally simple answer? Of course. Am I going to lose sleep over it? Hell no. It happens.

Lurper - Good to know, thanks for the link!

My guess would be parts of DC are in MD and the lines are confusing.

***? Parts of DC in Maryland? There are no parts of DC in Maryland.

If I ever took my guns home to MD (never happen), pretty much all of them would fall into the MD AWB list, except my EG.22LR (thats Evil Gray .22LR).
Probably just too much hassle.

Maryland does not have an AWB. Certain rifles have a 7 day wait and the MSP conducts a handgun level background check. NO RIFLES ARE BANNED, and you can bring into the state any rifle you already own.

(Possession of certain magazine fed handguns are, however, banned, mostly those with magazine wells outside the handgrip)

If you have the gun sent to an SOT that can manufacture then they can obtain the fired case themselves.

Ted Sebate of Engage Armament in Kensington can do the shell casing if the manufacterer doesn't want to.

As for AIM surplus, if you sent them an email or letter specifically stating that the weapon or ammo isn't going to be residing in washington DC, then they will help you out.

I do not buy from Bud's Gun Shop.
The folks there are very friendly and courteous. Darren in particular. However, they refuse to ship rifles to CA without magazines. I wanted a Ruger PC9. They said that while the rifle was obviously not a banned AW or in any AW configuration, they would not sell it to me becuase the included magazine is a 15 rounder. (which is odd because I thought that ruger only included 10 round magazines)

So, I said, fine, keep the magazine, don't even take any off the price... I have plenty of magazines already from my Ruger P series handguns.

Nope, our policy is that we don't sell rifles without magazines.

What? There's not enough regressive gun control legislation that Bud has got to make up his own? There is not a single state in the union that requires a rifle to be sold with a magazine. And yet...

so I said, thank you, sir... and promptly never called back. his business, his rules - but I'm afraid I can't play by them.

See, that's where I'm coming from - I respect that they have the right to make up such rules, just like I have the right to not play along.

It just boggles my mind that this thread has been such a hassle to deal with, as far as people reading into it seemingly whatever they want, instead of what I actually wrote.

I di sincerely wish the mods would have closed it by now - but then again I only asked them twice.
