Going back to the books. w/a 9mm/115gr fmj rn hornady. and most likely w231powder charge maybe unique. I had 300 rnds. In stock. Before I move back to plated. New gun have to know what it s capable of.
$0.16/round is $8 per 50 non-reloadable steel case ammo.9mm is $0.16/rd, even with plain lead bullets it's hard to justify economically.
eam3 looking to group very well some might say make a b.e./shooting gun out of what is not. Below max. for paper steel. Don't have to make power factor etc. . Wasn't a fan of the haps. in 45. shorter bullet base. Didn't think about cfe p. for the load work/up. Yesterday w/horn/.115gr. . went straight to the book. I'm a big rmr fan and have to shorten oal on them/powder/ change. W231 was choice and round nose as most had good to say bout them. In a previos thread I was tring to get be86 it a lil. cleaner. I have a very nice load w/it and had a better one w/ the 124gr. Hard plate fp. Thanks! I'm not the best @ at posting/spelling wise bear w/me."super accurate load for the Glock 43"
I hear yeah rs. just trying to learn some more sir. Anyhow load work up w/the 115gr. rn horn. w231 4.1/4.3/4.5/4.7 @7yds. did very nice. clean and on top of each other off front rest/one flyer my mistake? @4.7 max according to manual. Barrel nice and clean.I don’t think the 43 deserves a load all its own.
I’ve been using the same 115 plated over a medium charge of tightgroup that I use for any other 9mm.
Hey a big thanks friend I have a pound and its copper fouling. That struck a nerve w/going to a fmj! Yes its a hobby for me. I don't save $ by no means but want to know. I have MBC/lead EXTRM.s/tonnage of RMR few 100s HORND. in 9mm. I wanted to find out really more about one of the 9s I carry mostly a new model the 43. someone mentioned T.G. I personally love it in 9 and have 3/4 hundred etremes 124 put up w/100s others in 9mm. ( Positon sensitive/temp. sensitive?) its a fun hobby! Thanks to everyone and thr!if you want to give the CFE Pistol a try I have some that I can spare.
My G43 liked 115 Plated Xtreme RN, 115 Winchester notched JHP, and Hornady 115 XTPs. Those were the only 115s I really ran with, but they all did well. Even better we're Winchester 124 FMJ, and Hornady 124 XTP. Powder selection for the G43 was HP-38 (W231) for the 124gr loads, but for the 115s CFE Pistol and Power Pistol had the best and most repeatable accuracy. Using range brass, I can load 9mm for about the price of good .22 LR (~.10 cents per round) so it is still economical to load 9 if you shoot a lot. I can buy 115 FMJ off the local store shelves for $10-11 per 50 or $12-13 for 124/147 FMJ so it is certainly affordable but with 9mm brass being so common that part is almost free, it takes next to nothing as far as powder to load 9, bullets are fairly cheap and abundant and primers are just primers. Typically I can get 500rds 115 Plated for $36 and 500rds JHP for $42-45 For primers I use CCI, I get them by the 1000 for $30 local. So using range brass it costs me about $102 to load 1000rds of Plated 9mm. A bit more for JHPs but that is also the case with factory Ammo. Not many people shoot JHP for target but my 124 XTP handload is my pet load for weekly action pistol shoots. With Power Pistol it is super accurate and the felt recoil and POI is nearly the same as my 124 HST carry load so this is why I pay the little extra and train with the same type Ammo as what I carry. As far as the Gloc 43 in particular, I wasn't a great fit for that particular pistol and even tho I love the bigger Glocks, the M&P Shield and Sig 938 are both better micro 9s in my own hands. That being said, I did extensive shooting with my 43 before selling to try and train myself to love it and found the above bullets and powders to be the best of the bunch. If you want some specific loads and their resulting accuracy shoot me a message. Also, as a whole it seemed to get more accurate the longer o stretched the OAL. The loads that came closest to 1.150 OAL ended up being the tighter grouping loads, and the ones closer to the 1.10-1.20 side of the spectrum would open up more. Also, the ultra medium burn rate powders did best with lighter 115s and the faster powders were better suited to the 124/147 loads. As far as factory carry ammo, the 124 & 147 HST +P from Federal both performed outstanding both in my own gel testing and accuracy testing. Behind these were Critical Duty +P, Golden Sabre Bonded 124 and PDX1 147 standard pressure. The 124 +P PDX was fairly accurate but didn't penetrate very deeply. The standard Golden Sabre penetrated well and was super accurate but the bullets would shed jacket throughout the track. Bought a couple boxes of the bonded version and that problem went completely away. The Critical Duty standard pressure load penetrated excellent as did the +P, but the expansion of the round isn't that great in general so the +P helps it get a bigger profile from the little pistols. Another good load, from various manufacturers is anything loaded with the 124 and 147gr XTP bullets. Hornadys factory product tends to be a bit slow, but Fiocchi, Black hills, HPR and many others load the same bullets a little hotter, which gets a bit more expansion than the Hornady product. Notice the "award winning" Gold dots are left off that list, and sad as it may be that's for good reason. From my 43 and my Shield the only Gold dot that performed half well was the 115 but it only penetrated about 12" even. The 124/147 flavors failed to expand numerous times through heavy cloth and penetrate extremely deep. The loads word excellent in Duty size guns but not in these little micro guns, the velocity just isn't there. Good luck.ARMSCOR 124gr jhp's is w/i carry in it now i don't carry reloads. Have another thread on be/w/rmr 124gr loots. trying to find how the gun performs w/ a variety of bullet profiles. Thank you John
I easily justify my time loading range ammo. It is a hobby. I enjoy the reloading process. And as I said before, I customize the ammo the way I want it. I did not say I only reload range ammo....I can't justify spending time loading plinking fodder, when I load XTP's for accuracy or copper for Condor safe zones I'm making better ammo than I can buy. I'd rather spend my time shooting range ammo than loading it (except into magazines/cylinders/clips). To each their own.
