noob question

As I stated before I have a Remington 870 4+1 express the new type,with the dimples. When you are dismantling you remove the magazine cap in the magazine is the retainer spring and follower. Is there also a nut that retains the barrel to the magazine tube or is it held just by the cap? that seems to be the only thing that holds my barrel in place. sorry for the dumb question .

All it has to do is keep the barrel from falling off when you tilt the gun down.

The bolt locks into the barrel extension inside the receiver, so there is no force from firing on the barrel/mag tube joint or receiver at all.
