Ive noticed that when the gun is empty ( Mossberg 590A1 ) , you have to press the slide release to cycle the slide. What happens when I fire a round off? Do I have to press the slide release lever every time I rack the slide to load another round in the chamber?

I know....noob

Once you fire the shot gun, be it dry or live, It will release the slide lock, thus allowing you to chamber the next round, or cycle the action without having to manually release the slide.

Typical THR question.

Read the literature that comes with the weapon. Learn your chosen weapon(s) and know how they operate.

The action will only release if the trigger is pulled or the release is depressed.

Typical THR question.

Nowhere near a typical THR question ( maybe wrong sub-forum, Shotgun not General would be better. ), false assumption on your part, and nothing wrong with asking the question either. :scrutiny:

It's OK though, Noobs are allowed to ask basic questions and make incorrect assumptions without being called out on them... hint, hint, nudge, nudge...

:D:D

Really, the guy is asking a question and when it comes to firearms no question is dumb! Better to ask than not and then do something that causes a ND.

Easy. There are two ways to unlock the action- hit the release or pull the trigger. If its the latter make sure you know what's up first.

So let me see if I understand. I load the magazine tube with 8 rounds, and then if I want to put 1 in the chamber, I would hit the mag release and then rack the slide?
