I dropped in a gun shop this morning and saw a Norinco .22 pistol. I think it was called a "TT-22". The owner said it was a copy of a European pistol, but was made in China. Quality looked OK. I liked the long barrel and the price was OK, but I have no idea how good the quality is. Any of you have one of these?

I believe that's their copy of the Walther TT Olympia? I've seen a few in shops, but never fired one. I've heard that they're not really equal to the originals, (we should all have a macro for "not as good as the original" on THR 
) in this case meaning, you're probably not going to win an olympic gold medal with one, but if you weren't planning to compete in the next olympics anyway, I hear they're generally very accurate .22's, with ugly grips.

"The front end of the receiver has to be sprung away from the barrel a bit to free the end of the spring guide from its stop in the receiver. This is accomplished by driving a brass wedge or screwdriver between the barrel and the front of the receiver. While this may seem to be deforming the receiver, it is, nevertheless. the method used at the factory. The receiver is spread so little that it does not harm the gun."

These pistols are a copy of the Walther TT Olympic.
Not too bad in quality, as you said they are OK.
Don't lose the magazines, they are all but impossible to find and original Walther Olympic magazines will not work in these guns,(We tried.)

norinco tt breakdown
G'day from West aust, I shoot with the local S.S.A.A. club and just bought a Norinco TT olympia. I had read your posts and agree with the shooting ability of the norinco, its a cheapie!, but not only shoots well, it feels good!. To remove the slide?, as you pull the slide back, pull the trigger guard down at the front [ as the slide stop is in the trigger guard]and the slide will go back far enough and then lift above the frame and come forward off the gun.
Nifty little idea. I also shoot with a Baikal standard 25metre target pistol, with good results. another very functional cheap pistol. A Hammerli 120 free pistol, single shot that is much more accurate than I am!. And for most Field pistol work/fun, a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44mag. My biggest problem is finding molds that will suit this and fit my Ruger9644 magazine.
