Hi everyone,

It has been a year since I have been on this forum but I didn't forget about y'all. Last anyone knew, I was moving back to Texas with no job, everything I can fit into my little car and the grace of God. Well, needless to say, I have been busy.

I found a job that pays almost twice what I made before and this company is so much better to work for than the last. I have to say, moving back was the best decision I could have made.

I have been so busy with work and other life goings-on that I have been to the range once and that was to qualify for my CHL. I have looked around on the internet for some private ranges like the one I used to belong to but I haven't found anything good. I would like to find a small, relaxed private range where I can go and shoot when I have some spare time. I know how to shoot safely, so I don't need someone breathing down my neck, etc.

I'm between Dallas and Denton, so somewhere fairly close would be nice. If any fellow Texans know of any good spots, I am all ears! I might even have a few friends to bring along as well.

Tanks. Glad to be back home!

Moved to "Rallying Point" forum. There are a few threads here on shooting areas in North Texas if you will search this sub forum.

I'm south of Ft Worth so I don't know much about the area towards Denton, maybe someone else has info, but do search, I remember seeing several threads on this area.

First of all, welcome back to the greatest state in the union!! :) I'm so glad that your life is going so much better!

There are lots of places to shoot around DFW. TexasGunTalk has a page with a pretty good list of ranges. At the very least, it's a good start! Check it out, then you can look up the places listed and give them a call to confirm what the facts are. Good luck!!

Times must have changed. I lived in Denton twenty years ago, and there were lots of places to shoot back then. I've heard the place has grown tremendously in past years. I guess that's good. But it makes it harder to go boom here and there. Glad things are going well for you eaton. I miss the area and its people.

http://jacobsplain.com/ is an hour away in Greenville but has less restrictions on what you can shoot. After APG sold to the city it's the closest range I know of that allows fullauto.

try this:

There will probably be a few I have never heard of.

I have been to NTSA once (as a guest). Nice place, membership is pricey (by my standards). Dallas pistol Club is handy, no idea what annual membership fee is (again, been there as a guest for Steel Plate matches).

There is a place in Copper Canyon, Denton County Sports IIRC...very small, may or may not fit your needs. I have a friend who is a member of Haltom City Range, another private club...may be a bit out of your radius. Anyway, he speaks highly of it.

I shoot mostly at Bass Pro Grapevine. Good folks, decent range, but it does get crowded...mostly because I have told so many people about it. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it....I have brought probably 30 first time shooters there in the last five years. A lot of them have bought guns and are now semi-regulars. Some of them now bring their wives, daughters, friends, etc.
