A familiar stop for sportsmen of the Southern Tier was robbed early Sunday morning. Ackley and Sons, of Westfield PA, were burgled by thieved who, police say, knew what they were doing. Officials say that the suspects disabled the stores security system allowing them plenty of time to steal nearly 200 semi-automatic rifles and a wide array of handguns. The stores owner says that everything was insured, so he wont lose any money, but these guns could be going anywhere. This is the largest burglary ever committed in Tioga County. Pennsylvania State Police urge anyone with information to contact them at 570-662-2151.

Holy cow.........that's just up the road from me.

With the current situation around here, I will make an educated guess that many of those guns will be going to Philly, NYC and Jersey. Probably some of them will remain right there in the big woods area for years without anyone knowing where they came from. I had a neighbor who had his guns stolen a while back......his .357 mag ended up just down the street from him and wasn't discovered until it was confiscated due to being used in a robbery 2 years later.

I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open for some really good "deals" from guys who just need the money and want to get rid of their new guns they don't use anymore.

That's a bad situation. I hope the authorities are on top of things and get these arms rounded up before too much time goes by.
