For 18 rounds, starting with a loaded pistol, I would be faster with my Glock 17 than my S&W 586 or 19.
For 18 rounds, having to perform a reload halfway through with a magazine for a semi-auto, the auto would be a bit faster for me.
For 18 rounds from an empty gun (and empty magazine for the semi), no contest. Catch me and the S&Ws while Iʼm picking up the empties.
(The trick I read, possibly on here even, is to handle the cartridges 2 at a time when reloading the revolver if you donʼt have speedloaders. Itʼs quicker and easier than fumbling with one at a time. Try it, I was unsure at first but it really works well.)
