I have an Ed Brown Special Forces 1911 .45 ACP with the Gen III finish on it. I'm interested in selling it, but I've looked through various classifieds on different forums and it doesn't seem like Ed Browns are easy to sell...pretty much all the ads featuring EBs seem to end without a sale. Mine is nice...shows a very little wear, I've added to it (short trigger, which I prefer, and a new main spring housing/magwell, with the original long trigger and MSH available) and several Wilson 47D mags. All in all it's a very nice package, but I'm hesitant to post it for sale if it's not going to generate any interest.

Is there something about buying a used Ed Brown that turns people off on the forums? For those of you who are wondering why, I just don't feel all that enthused about 1911s...I'd really rather have a Sig P220 Carry with the DAK trigger, and I feel that this very nice 1911 should be somewhere it's appreciated...

(If this shouldn't be in this section, please feel free to move it...thanks)

Go to the two main 1911 forums, and the Glocktalk Forum and ar15.com - they have appropriate forsale sections. I see high end 1911s sold on those various sites all the time

They're easy to sell if the price is right.
A NIB can be bought for just under $2000, so if your trying to sell it for $1900, it won't sell quickly.
Now if you price it at $1600, then I guarantee that it'll sell.

With the economy the way it's been for the last year, or so, it's a buyer's market for the higher end pistols. A lot of people just can't seem to understand why they should pay 2K for a pistol when they can get a CHEAPER one for $500.

I only own one Ed Brown, and I think the quality is pretty close to a couple of full customs I have. The are certainly better looking than a Baer, or, most Wilsons.

Good luck on your sale!

Why?
It doesn't cost you anything to list it in the classified forums... except a few minutes and a few keystrokes.

If it doesn't sell... so what?
