I am planning on contacting the NRA about a legislative proposal I have, and was wondering if anyone knows who best to contact with my idea. I don’t want it to end up in a pile of letters that don’t get to the right person since I really think this could have legs. Here is:
It’s no secret the US post office is not in a good financial situation. It seems quite likely they will be coming to congress soon looking for a bailout, and they will likely get it. I propose that we get a rider stuffed in that bill to serve our interests as relates to the postal service.
Currently, if I want ship a handgun across state lines for sale or repair, I must ship overnight air via Fedex or UPS which is extremely expensive. Only FFL’s can ship handguns through USPS and I have noticed quite a bit of resistance from FFL in recent years to ship handguns for a reasonable price since gunbroker is really eating into their profits.
So if USPS wants money from the public, fine. They should have to let that same public ship handguns like they can long guns. And while you’re at it, maybe CCW restrictions should be determined by the state in which that office is in.
