NRA decals

Jeez. I understand the desire for stealth, and respect the reasons. Hiding my opinions and affiliations just ain't for me though.

I have an NRA sticker on my vehicle. And I've had one on every vehicle I've owned for the past 40 years. I consider it sort of a duty.

Let's see...

Ft. Bragg/DoD sticker and NC inspection sticker on the windshield...

Special Forces Association 50th Anniversary sticker and POW/MIA sticker on the left back window, small red MOLON LABE (potential domestic terrorist) sticker on the right back window. And the little AAA sticker my wife put on the tailgate- on the paint no less :cuss:.

Nope, no NRA stickers for me... on DW's car either, and she's a Life Member.

There comes a point where you have to be allowed to state who you are, what you represent, and just not worry about it.

Sure, and I can see that self-expression means different things to different people. However, somewhere along the line of my youthful rebelling I realized that self-expression through extremity in clothing, vehicles, accessories, etc, was a false representation of sorts. I and my beliefs are the sum of a lot of things not expressed through materials. That's why when I'm out in public, I tend to be one of those guys that's neither over nor underdressed for a given setting, and in my past professional life I've had no problem wearing a suit or a set of Carharts depending on what the job calls for. My vehicles are forgettable, habits in public don't really draw the eye. I tend to live my personal life in a way that's externally nondescript, saving the expression and discussion of beliefs for face time with friends or acquaintences, camp fire discussions, and range trips. Who I am and what I beleive in don't hinge on what is or isn't advertised on my wheels.

I don't do the above because I fear theft of my weapons. I just figure certain social norms can be met without sacrificing one's character.

Besides, the stickers make great decorations for the door of the gun safe.

Molon Labe sticker still has a place on my vehicle for the reasons outlined above by Mr. Deckard.

Yep, all kinds of decals. NRA, VCDL, Va terrorist hunting permit, rebel flag, POW/MIA.
101ST AIRBORNE ASSOC.

Never had a problem. To paraphrase Charlie Danials, People tend to leave this old, bearded, long haired, country boy alone.

Have 2

I have one on my Yukon Denali and another on my car. I put them on the driver's side window about shoulder high. Looks like I have it on my coat jacket. Only had one neighbor tell the that I "...shouldn't have that on my window...". Three days later his house was broken into and robbed.

Actually from a distance the NRA decal looks like the Marine Corps decal.

On one hand, it is like the admonition to not have your gun cabinet, gun rack or gunsafe visible through a window from the street, or a gun rack, gun cabinet or gun safe visible to casual visitors inside the house. Don't advertise to burglars (although it may deter home invaders).

On the other, avoiding angering antis who might get paranoid or try to "cut you off" in traffic, I read a rant by a lefty about pursuing someone in traffic because they had a Bush-Cheney sticker on their car in 2004. Geez (even some of lefties on that board thought it was excessive behaviour). Looks like (some) lefties (or maybe yellow dog Democrats) still engage in that sort of behaviour: She gets dirty looks and gets cut off in traffic occasionaly. I see a car with a lot of anti-Bush, fish with legs, other left wing slogans, logos and bumper stickers, I just think how tacky and drive on. The idea of dissing someone in public or cutting them off in traffic is just insane behaviour. (Sorry about the -ours I've been reading Dickens in the original English.)

I'm not one to put ANYTHING on my car.

On the other hand, unless in a suit or in a driving blizzard, I ALWAYS have on an NRA ballcap and occasionally an NRA polo shirt. I've only ever actually gotten crap for it once, and from an elderly Nazi who thought that the Holocaust might actually have been a GOOD thing.

Yup...Right along side my Fox Trotter sticker and my Axillary Sheriff's decal on the back window of my pickup. Base sticker on the windshield...

Had one on my wife's Corvette (when she still had it). Watched a man go up to her Vette and start to reach for the door latch. Saw the NRA decal and abruptly left...

I drive around nutty Boulder, CO with the RMGO AR-15 sticker on the back of my Cherokee. (Say hi if you see me.) Never even had my vehicle scratched in a parking lot, or otherwise attracted weirdos. Most of them aren't paying enough attention to notice the world around them, so I'm not surprised.

Did have one guy come up and suggest that I might want to listen to Alex Jones, though.

(I have the smallish NRA and GOA inside-the-window stickers on the left side under tinted windows, but I doubt anyone ever sees those.)

Around Austin, TX - there was a group that hit NRA sticker cars looking for guns. Just something that happens.

You also take a risk of vandalism. At work, someone had a Darwin fish on their car and it was vandalized. Some folks tried to justify the vandalism as they found the fish offensive. So you never know.

I have a small NRA sticker on my bumper. In hidsight I wish I had put it on my rear window instead of on my painted bumper. Thats my only regret about putting it on my car though.

That is the type of claim that needs to be substantiated so that its not tossed into the dust bin of questionable internet comments.

:what:

You brave, brave soul. Your car hasn't been keyed but Boulder-yuppie-hippies are sending "bad vibes" your way.

Have a NRA decal on my rear window of my truck, and a Ruger sticker on the window, drivers side, of the X-cab on my pickup. Never had a lick of trouble, and had a lot of compliments and a lot of good discussion with officers over it. Also have gotten off with a warning once because of the NRA and the Ruger in conjunction. I'll keep mine, thanks.

I only have three stickers on my car. I have a little sticker reminding me to get an oil change, that I always forget about. I have a sticker with my fraternity's letters on it, and I have a blue line on the rear bumper of my car.

I figure that none of those stickers are very antagonizing towards other people.

I'm with inthelineoffire. I've had NRA decals on both of my Jeep TJ's and have parked both the with top down and doors off in areas where many are concerned about theft without a single issue (knock on wood).

Maybe I don't think like the average criminal but as near as I can tell most of them are opportunistic cowards. If there isn't a gun laying in plain sight, it seems to me the average criminal would be more fearful of a potential CC permit holder returning to find them messing with their vehicle than they would the Honda Civic with the aftermarket stereo decals two spots over.

Never had a problem.

I've never had problems. I always inspect my car for dents and marks at parking lots regardless, but I'm a bit more careful as I live kind of close to chicago. I have considered someone possibly breaking into my car, but chances are slim at best. I've noticed more vehicles with pro-gun stickers lately, even around campus and it's kind of nice to know you aren't alone, all the while bringing closet gun owners out of the woodworks.

Also great for infuriating yuppies and the Dailey crowd, they know their days are numbered.

#1 - having more than 2 decal/bumper stickers just looks sloppy and trashy to me. I don't drive a Bentley, but I like my car to provide transportation, and not be a rolling endorsement/political statement

#2 - I live in a big city (roughly 1.5mil in the greater Charlotte area)

#3 - I once considered getting some aftermarket wheels for my car. Not the big 22-inch chrome spinning kind, but some 18-inch sport wheels. I had a good friend say this to me..."If you want people to steal your car because its a nice car, just tint the windows. If you want someone to steal your car because they think they can take it to a chop shop and get a bunch of money for it, go buy some big rims".

I look at NRA stickers the same way. I am a NRA life member, but I don't want to have to replace a window because some knucklehead decided to CHECK and see if I had any guns in the car (which I don't). My insurance deductible would leave me high and dry everytime, because replacing windows doesn't cost more than $500

I have my NRA Lifemember,North American Hunting Club Life member and my Sons of Confederate Veterans member stickers prominently and proudly displayed on my T100. Oh! and my Crimson Tide license plate!

I have a magnetic Support Our Troops ribbon on my truck and another one on the fender of my utility trailer.
I think they alone have caused countless terrible acts of misbehavior over the years.
