As those of you getting NRA alerts already know, the President just signed into law a bill that prohibits the Fed. gov. from confiscating guns during times of disaster like Katrina.

There was also a link to Give Them Back.com which is an NRA site dedicated to getting the confiscated weapons back into the hands of their owners.

There are several videos on the left side of the page. We shouldn't forget what happened down there. We should support the NRA in its attempts to get put into law protections for gun owners.

That will still allow some state or local governor or mayor to do whatever the hell they see fit as "right" by DECREE, and depending on their location and whatever they perceive as 'P.C.', in pandering to the local liberal democratic elitists. I live behind the wire in NJ, and i have no doubt that some of the local communists up here would line up in order to be the FIRST to attempt to Naginize weapons in an extreme emergency in this gulag, federal law(s) or my constitutional rights be damned.

Great... now, if the Administration would just un-confiscate the guns from the airline pilots (remember, it was Bush&co. who finally banned guns from the cockpits right before 9-11). How many pilots have managed to get through the DOT hoops now? 48?

If more storm troopers were caught on video, they might not be so popular with the sheeple.

IMHO Nothing will change until we start seeing cops likethese (and their leaders) do jail time for Civil Rights violations. Everything else is just abstract paperwork shuffling and talk.

That is why I am begginning to think that disarming LEOs might be a good idea. They can carry if they have a permit, but not on duty. I figure if other city workers cannot then perhaps the police should not be able to.

The issue is not the cops. There will always be those who follow orders in a civil society. The issue is who sent them and how to strip them of their power.

It needs to be dealt with at higher levels. Take away the power of the Nagins, Bloombergs and Daleys to run fiefdoms that have their own set of rules.

The Fed law is a start, next is each individual state. I think some have already passed legislation.

But in the heat of an exchange btwn the cops and citizens, laws on the books wont help. Jailtime needs to be leveled on these drones. Budget draining lawsuits might "get their attention".

And the citizens will always lose. They have more people, better communication and superior firepower.

You cannot expect every cop to have the accuman of a lawyer. They rely on their superiors to make the right call. Every cop cannot be a law unto themselves.

It has to be changed from the top down.

Instead of fighting only 2nd ammendment battles we should be fighting right to self defense battles as well.

Another point to keep in mind.

If such/similar confiscation's were to take place in one of the more Pro 2A states, a lot of Police/NG who "Follow Orders" on it are liable to get themselves killed by the ones they seek to disarm.

If that happens, it will cause a mess on such a scale that I don't even want to try to imagine.
