it's a holiday weekend. more people can come to your thingy. I'm going this year. though I nearly didn't. really didn't want to sign up for the nra, but it's only a short drive and I want to see the sights. And I can stay for free with my brother. Who knows, I might get a chance to boo wayne.

I very well may. I was going through the exhibitor list, and there aren't all that many knife companies at the rifle convention.

only the ones with the stars are ones I am really looking forward to seeing.

does anybody know of there are things to buy at the convention? is it worth taking cash, or just do the usual credit card in the wallet thing?

My experience at past NRA conventions is you don't buy anything ('cept food and drink), you just get to see and play with everything the companies have coming out. It has always been a great event in the past.

I went to the last one in Houston. I bought a holster and a hat and a t-shirt. There was a lot of give-a-way swag. No guns or ammo for sale, but you could look at the guns and optics

credit card in the wallet thing?

Just the credit card thing. The vendor area isn't like a gunshow where there's a lot of negotiation where "cash is king".

There aren't any guns or ammunition for sale, but there are accessories. I've gotten grips, knives, magazines, etc.

sounds good. I saw a couple years ago that amend2 had some texas mags. I always wished I could have picked up one for my cousin in atlanta whom I keep trying to get to move here. I'm actually good on ammo, and guns, well, I need to divest myself of a couple before I buy more. I'll be scope shopping though.

I went to the NRA shows when I lived down that way. Always went on Friday when it was less crowded. Lots of swag and get there early, some are handing out free tshirts. If your looking to fondle something new go for it. Picked up my life membership for darn near nothing at one they had there many years ago. People poo poo on Wayne and the NRA but they still have a strong presence in defending the 2A whether one wants to believe it or not...

I'm gonna bet that the Anti Mayor and County commissioner had a hand in this. They have not canceled other events.

Important Announcement: NRA Annual Meeting Cancellation

Due to concern over the safety of our NRA family and community, we regret to inform you that we have decided to cancel the 2021 Annual Meeting & Exhibits. This cancellation applies to all events and meetings that were scheduled in Houston. We will provide future notification regarding a rescheduled date for the annual Meeting of Members.

We make this difficult decision after analyzing relevant data regarding COVID-19 in Harris County, Texas. We also consulted with medical professionals, local officials, major sponsors & exhibitors, and many NRA members before arriving at this decision. The NRA Annual Meeting welcomes tens of thousands of people, and involves many events, meetings, and social gatherings. Among the highlights of our annual meeting are acres of exhibit space featuring the latest and greatest firearms, the display of countless accessories, and the offering of adventures and group gatherings that many travel hundreds, and some even thousands, of miles to experience. We realize that it would prove difficult, if not impossible, to offer the full guest experience that our NRA members deserve.

The NRA’s top priority is ensuring the health and well-being of our members, staff, sponsors, and supporters. We are mindful that NRA Annual Meeting patrons will return home to family, friends and co-workers from all over the country, so any impacts from the virus could have broader implications. Those are among the reasons why we decided to cancel our 2021 event.

We would like to thank our members, attendees, exhibitors, and staff for their understanding and support. We are grateful for the many contributions of the George R. Brown Convention Center, state and local officials, community organizers, area hotels, and countless event venues across Houston. We receive enormous support from Houston and the State of Texas – and we hope to return to the Bayou City for a full annual meeting experience.

The NRA looks forward to a Celebration of Freedom in Louisville in May 2022. In the meantime, we will support many other NRA local events and smaller gatherings – in a manner that is protective of our members and celebrates our Second Amendment freedom.

We wish continued health and safety to our entire NRA family.

Poop. I bought a membership just to go to the show. At least I got an overpriced duffle bag and advertisement subscription, I mean magazine.

Since NRAM cancelled last year for this same reason, that's unlikely. And NRA would be citing the local government as the reason if it were. So it isn't reasonable to think it was not NRA's own decision in the absence of blame being levied at the Mayor.

Maybe but there have been 0 Gun shows scheduled at the Convention Center owned by the city since this covid started. The same group that puts on the shows is still having shows in Pasadena and Conroe so it's plausible that Turner and Hidalgo have some hand in this. Maybe not completely but some...
