NRA Statement:
"Dallas, like every American city and community, is populated by NRA members. Our members work in fire stations and police departments. They save lives in local hospitals and own businesses in communities urban and rural throughout this country. No politician anywhere can tell the NRA not to come to their city. We are already there.

- Andrew Arulanandam, NRA

GREAT RESPONSE

The NRA may have received a bunch of criticism from our own not too long ago. But that was a great statement.

Let's support the NRA, GOA, and all of the other pro 2nd Amendment organizations. But let's also remind them that we can't give up any ground as the left won't stop until we're disarmed.

It was the Mayor Pro Tem not the Mayor even though they are both worthless. The NRA should have ignored Caraway. He will probably be indicted for corruption before long.

Well, that OP is pretty much the NRA response to any politician who thinks they can say "We don't want the NRA in our town."

We are already here.

Nearly five million known dues paying members. I believe a Pew poll projected nine million (there's a lot of transNRA people who self-identify as NRA or sympathise in random-sample public opinion polls -- mull that a minute).

How many dues paying Brady Campaign? Violence Policy Center? Bloomberg Everytown? Soros IANSA?

Wherever, we out number them and we are not the enemy.

Well, if Dallas is too lefty to gain from all the convention dollars, I'll wager Fort Worth will be more than willing to have them move venue over there. A lot more traditional values in FW than have ever been in Dallas.

I bet they would love to. But the logistics of moving it this close to the event would be something they’d choose not to deal with.

If Dallas hates us that much why don’t they take all of the tax revenue from this huge event and donate it to the victims families. Or use it for a real study in how to secure our schools. Wanna bet they won’t even entertain that but rather have already spent it.

How many NRA Life Members?
I recently upgraded to show my support.

Listening to all of the attacks on the NRA reminds me why I did it and why I’m fighting to eliminate gun free zones.

I've been a Life Member for approx 14 years. Amongst other certs. Good move for you and great post:thumbup:

I meant how many Life Members does the NRA have.

I figured they have a stat. And the more of us who become Life Members the more influence they will have when talking with lawmakers and their staffers.

Oh ok yes.

Just as important IMHO and probably more readily available...how many new members since latest round of fatalities

Old members upping memberships, let's say it's several thousand. But if new memberships is 100's of thousands, which would have more weight in the current debate? News worthiness?

Yes but the MSM will spin it in a negative light anyway they can.

They’ll find someone high profile who is pissed like G HW Bush who resigned their membership and not mention all of us who upgraded our memberships or joined recently.

We fight for the Bill of Rights now for all citizens, or fight to form a new, free Republic later.
This part,
form a new, free Republic later
might be a better alternative; start over fresh, maybe with the US split into a few new countries where like-minded folks can gather in their own version of utopia.

Maybe the Mayor`s like the guy in those old movie Western`s that yells, " your not coming to my town." Then turns around and nobody is there to back him up. The NRA, is coming to town and rightly so.....

There will always be someone in every locale that doesn't like the NRA. In this case, it happens to be a mayor. But he's just a mayor- not an omnipotent deity or totalitarian dictator. Stay the course.

A certain politician using alternate means to get his message across an belligerent press. Sometimes you have to think outside the box. The response was excellent, but its not out there is the press like it should be.

I disagree.
We need to stop being quiet and attack back.
Those who want to disarm us won’t stop until they succeed. We need to do all we can to fight back on all fronts. Well thought out statements like this remind those in the middle that were not the bad guys.

I agree with this in sentiment.

The “Conservative” method is the same method rocks use to defend themselves against erosion. It’s been this way and it won’t change enough before I am dead and it’s someone else’s problem.

The “Progressive” method is to always be going after the goal. Get that inch, 36 of them will be a yard...

No need to “attack” per se but be mindful of achieving your goal.

After President Clinton’s AWB “we” gave Republicans the Presidency, Senate and House. They returned the favor to the “energized voters” by allowing it to sunset. After all why give them a solution, when you can expect them to “need you” to save them. Well, how that worked out is now history. Would have been a “sure thing” to pass something substantial. Even if it worked out like Obama’s health care, at least you did what you had the power to do. Instead, nothing. Really “nothing” was the tactic.

I find it odd that one party goes after the goals they were elected to achieve and the other seems to cave, if it does anything.

May just be nature, as one thing is for sure, the only thing that stays the same is change...
