just started reloading but have run into a snaffu when installing primers.I feel a double bump when seating primer in my lee turett press and had some not want to seat at all.
what is the best set up to take the crimp out of primer pockets, this is taking all the fun out of reloading:banghead:

There are a variety of hand tools available to ream out the pockets on military brass. The pockets can also be swaged (stretched) with the proper tool. It used to be that you could aford to not use the military crimped or staked brass, but now you need to use all you can lay your hands on. Go to Midway USA and search for primer pocket tools. That will give you a good list to look at.

If your turret press is not the Lee big classic model - the RCBS primer pocket swage tool from Midway at about $30 will work. The re-design of the RCBS tool works great for me in spite of some reviews you might read. Simple to use - 10 seconds per case for small 5.56's - 15 seconds for 308's. Large and small primer pockets crimps are no problem.

Salty??

Please tell me more about the redesign on the RCBS swager. When did it come out?

I purchased a RCBS set about a month ago. It works but is difficult to adjust and you have to carefully guide the brass onto the post. I also found that the threads on the post are very sloppy so it does not center well at all.

Thanks,
Scott
