Numbers in front of the primers ?

Numbers in front of the primers what do they mean ?

example
1-1/2 Small Pistol
5-1/2 Small Pistol Mag
1-1/2 Small Pistol
1-1/2 M Small Pistol Mag.
7 Large Pistol
2-1/2 Large Pistol


now i got these from a cabelas web site between winchester and remmington primers and i was trying to firgure out what i want but im not sure what the #s mean any help plz

Just different companies product (model) number.

Yup. CCI uses "hundreds" instead.

Really the only one you have to watch out for is the Remington 6 1/2.
It is not suitable for use in the .223.

The numbers are just brand designations.

If you'll pretty much ignore the numbers and just go with the descriptive names for each size, you'll be ok. The numbers make it easier for the manufacturers to keep track on inventory, etc. They really don't mean much to the average reloader.

I thought those were guaranteed group sizes if you use their primers. That's why I don't buy CCI.
