finally got an account and have a question worth asking. recently got stationed in destin FL and figured well i was down south i would try my hand at hog hunting.i know hog is open year round through the state but coming across land to hunt them on is kinda hard. the only public land to hunt on is eglin airforce base but they only allow hunting during their specified deer season. anyone local with any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familar with Destin. Eustis has hog hunts and south fl abounds with them. You can hunt them during small game season on wma with rimfires only??? Google it and I'm sure you can find a place to "hunt and pay". We have a lot of hogs.

I am over in Panama. You will probably have to join a hunting lease as most land is now either private and posted or leased out. Not like the old days. Check the local paper and you will probably find some ads looking for more members. Also check some of the local gun shops (like Rangers in FWB) for more local info.

Go over to the county office and ask if they have the pamphlets for the various Wildlife Management Areas in that area or look them up in the web. Some WMAs have very strict seasons on hogs while others are pretty easy and long. Most of them though also require no center fire guns, which is why I just started using a muzzle loading rifle. And don't give up on looking for private land. It may take you a long time to find it, but you just might luck out.

Leaky waders, yes we are allowed to hunt on Eglin but only during their deer season which of course ends today. Aso tried the redfishing down here i was really excited when i got down here but for all the hype i have only caught one slot red in the year i have been here.
