JWarren: I'm in. Let us know the details, I will light up my phone and email tree to my crazy, right wing, redneck, ignorant, gun clinging, religion clinging, vigilante, friends and family.

On a lighter side, 4 pages in and practically no posts from our resident "Obama Apologists". Interesting... :scrutiny:

I used to worry about this too, until all my guns were lost in that boating accident.

Curse those leaky boats!

You know, I am getting sooo very tired of these mamby pamby jacka**es telling me what I need, and what i should and shouldn't buy because I really don't have anything to "worry" about. And, the point is WHAT, exactly??? We don't really need sports cars that will go 150mph+, if the speed limit is 75mph; and I don't really need a diesel truck that will tow 16,000lbs, if my trailer has a gvwr of only 10,000 lbs. And some government bafoon questioning whether I really need that. Since when did it become ANYONE'S @#$%&* concern over what I need or don't need, or what I CHOOSE to buy or don't buy????? This IS still America, land of the supposedly free and misinformed, right? I don't give a rat's azz what Obama, the Brady's, or anyone else either thinks I need or don't need to buy. I'll buy whatever the hell I want to, when I want to, as long as I CAN, simply because I CAN and I WANT to!!!!! Good GOD people, what have we allowed ourselves to become? This is not about guns, per se, this about being slaves to a machine that will NEVER stop until we are ground into dust. Are we all "just another brick in the wall" of the prison called history? A history of a once proud nation built by patriots, defending liberty with tireless devotion and sacrifice. Yet, we allowed ourselves to be prostituted by self serving, freedom loathing politicians who used our own human weakness' against us. And we watched freedom slip away like sand through our fingers. My children will curse my grave if they ever know what we have done, and allowed to happen.

I don't really see where in that article he said "don't stock up on guns."
He restated what he said while campaigning - but that's all that's mentioned in the article.
As gun sales shoot up around the country, President-elect Barack Obama said Sunday that gun-owning Americans do not need to rush out and stock up before he is sworn in next month.
"I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment," Obama said at a news conference. "Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven't indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word."

Where did he say "Don't buy guns" ?

I know it ain't gonna happen, but if they can spend 700 billion + on subsidizing banks, investment firms, automobile industries, and CEO's private jets and CEO's vacations....

they can afford to subsidize the mere 2 billion $ gun industry

$700B / 300M (rough estimate of the population) = roughly $2300 for every man, woman child in this country. I'd think you could buy a few guns with that, and have some left over.
If we were talking about a bulk purchase, could probably even get a hefty discount...

The only thing I don't get - is if you read the article, they don't quote him as saying "don't buy guns" - at all.

They quote him as saying:

As gun sales shoot up around the country, President-elect Barack Obama said Sunday that gun-owning Americans do not need to rush out and stock up before he is sworn in next month.
"I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment," Obama said at a news conference. "Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven't indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word."

They say that's what he meant - but where did he say that?

As for the whole thing about liberal Democrats being upset because he's too centrist - that's just, silly. They even say in that Yahoo article that that's how his campaign went, that he didn't reach out to the fringe element this whole time. Now he's not reaching out to the fringe element with cabinet positions - and the fringe element is upset. Boo hoo. That's why you're the "fringe element", and not the "mainstream element". If anybody thought you were halfway sane in the first place, we wouldn't refer to you as the "fringe". We tolerate you because we're stuck with you, but don't expect much in terms of favors.
frickin wackos.

What's next--government employees deciding that we "already have more than enough books?"

Cael Jacobs said:
People who rely on the government to keep them safe are pretty much standing on Darwin's mat, pounding on the door, screaming, Take me, take me!"

Cael's statement is as pertinent in the financial sense as it is in the physical.

"We don't think these are first-time buyers. We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more."

HAHAHAHAH

Exactly. You can't easily control an honest man, so you change the laws to make him an outlaw.

Give that man a non-cuban cigar.

You're probably one of the few people here who will understand my line
above.

How many people here actually remember when the Brits and Aussies owned
semi-auto weapons? And, I'm not talking about remember it after they no
longer could own them when the ban was later brought to your conscious
thought, but remember it was still legal from a time of "present tense" in their
own lives?

How many actually paid attention when those weapons were made illegal,
turned in, and cut up ?

How many actually saw video of those weapons being cut up and destroyed?
I mean really watched it within weeks or months of when it happened.

I do and did....I remember. And, it wasn't just GB and Austrialia.

We don't think these are first-time buyers. We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more."

Translation: We get to decide how many guns each person should have. We get to have power and control over you. We are upset we have not achieved this control yet and disguise it in "for the children" rhetoric which has no connection with our real agenda.

To the guy that said:

>I used to worry about this too, until all my guns were lost in that boating accident.

>Curse those leaky boats!

I give no thanks to the million of American's like you that will DO NOTHING when they
come for our guns.

If I had to bet, I'd wager that more than 90% of the people that post here will
roll over and hand 'em in. I mean, it would be the law abiding thing to do right?

Mark my words American's, and I use the term loosely, will roll over. Just watch.

SUNTIMES- "Anyone who thinks they need to rush out and buy a firearm clearly has not been paying attention to how quickly we make progress on this issue. We don't think these are first-time buyers. We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more."

First off I think that his common sense law is garbage, and I could go on about how we all know that no matter what he does criminals will have gun..ETC..ETC.. Let me tell you something..Law abiding citizens are the ones who are gonna suffer and first and foremost you can never have enough guns...I don't need all my guns for protection..the hoplophobes are coming for us..

Oh and Chas watch me roll over..roll on over to my 90 acres with all my private sales in hand...a few composite water tight boxes and a pile of dessicant..I'll stick to the original constitution with my rights in my posession and if that makes me a criminal well so be it.

Well that gives me more reason to buy guns, buying another AK stripped and a AR15 stripped. Screw inflated prices, i'm not risking it.

I may get flamed, but here goes....

I believe him, I actually believe him. I think the current buying frenzy is somewhat foolish and any legislation will be a long time in the coming.

I think he has bigger fish to fry and wants a second term. Most politicians remember what happened in '96 as a result of the AWB in '94.

He is intelligent enough to know which way the wind is blowing no matter what his heart feels, he cannot change that direction.

Incrementalism lead up to Heller, and we took back a lot of lost ground. I hope we are better "armed" now when it comes to addressing our grievances through our elected representatives.

The only thing I ever get concerned about is a "major event" that leads to martial law and the end of the Posse Comitatus Act.

All that being said, I did buy a new (to me) Remington 1100 the other day.

The only reason he feels the "wind blowing" is because gun sales are through the roof. If things were business as usual they'd be talking smack about gun bans. There is a direct cause and effect here.

Do you honestly think Hamm and Bambam would be whining about gun sales if there was no surge?

While it may be true that Republicans took control of Congress, The ban was never lifted by them, even while they had 4 years of control of both Congress and White House. It was only the expiration of the ban that was allowed to happen in 2004. Ten years was/is still a long time. My fear is that the next ban will be made permanent, and much stricter. My feelings are that it's not Paranoa if they really are out to get you.:scrutiny:

That being said, I really don't know how much I'd be willing to spend, if I didn't allready have the guns I wanted. I started buying as soon as the first ban was lifted, although I am still looking for good trades and purchases wherever I can find them.

Translation: "Please don't buy those assault weapons. It will impede my ban."

Thats exactly correct (IMO)...perhaps they thought if the economy was 'really bad' folks wouldnt be able to buy gun or ammo...

Wrong on both counts!

0bama says don`t stock up on guns` and I understand what he means by that is `....because I`m going to take away all it from you`. 0bama`s voting record says more and talks louder than his `rest assured, trust me because I favor your 2nd amendment rights` statements.

The economy is only being helped by the extra gun sales. It's very suspicious that Obama wants us to stop spending money on American products during a recession.
