ii). For a suppressor?
iii). WHAT? Obviously these people don't know what a barrel shroud is. However, they probably mean any pistol with an un-exposed barrel

Also, the Mauser C/96 doesn't use detachable mags.

Also, Tec-9s and other pistols of similar style use detachable mags outside the grip.

As far as other semi-automatic pistol with magazines outside the grip, you've also got all the AR15 pistol variants, AK pistol variants, and the Ruger Charger which came out recently.

And yes, HR 1022 was introduced over 2 years ago and didn't make it out of committee in the 110th Congress which means it has to be reintroduced in the 111th Congress. You know, back when Bush was president.

Like some other members have said, I think the Obama team will try an go after ammo an perhaps dealers, before a bill against guns, he knows Clinton went for the guns, an the makers just worked around it....so my mac-90 did have a pistol grip attached to the stock...but thats just my opinion...I'm sure someone will take offense with it...ha!

We're not "making excuses" for anyone. We're pointing out that Obama had nothing to do with the creation or introduction of this particular bill. The fact that he's anti-gun isn't in dispute - the proposed legislation that he's supposedly connected with is.

Let's see here. The bill was introduced by Carolyn McCarthy (not Obama) in 2007. Obama wasn't even a co-sponsor of the bill.

I wonder, if we could go back in time to 1967/68 if anyone could imagine that the Gun Control legislation introduced by then Sen Dodd (father of the present Sen Dodd) would be crafted using eerily similar language found in German gun control laws from the Weimar/Nazi era? I'd bet dollars to donuts that when the time comes for the kid gloves to come off, the definitions, language and listing of forbidden fruit found in that relatively new/old piece of potential legislation will be dusted off, slightly modified and presented to Congress for their consideration and vote. History repeating itself and all...

Maybe for the children, maybe for Mexican gov't pacification, maybe due to some horrific event we really hope won't happen (but which has happened in our recent past ala 63 & 68), but the package is ready for instant deliberation should the need arise.
