Holder, yesterday:
This morning, I’m pleased to join the President, the Vice President, and countless Americans in calling on Congress to enact legislation addressing gun violence – including measures to require universal background checks, impose tough penalties on gun traffickers, protect law enforcement officers by addressing armor-piercing ammunition, ban high-capacity magazines and military-style assault weapons, and eliminate misguided restrictions that require federal agents to allow the importation of dangerous weapons simply because of their age.
I wonder what C&R firearms they have in mind here? SKS's? They really will not stop until they are out of power, or they have all our guns. If you've got representatives or senators who buy the "reasonable" restriction line, here's just another example you can point out to show how far the gun grabbers are prepared to go.

Ya this is a sweeping move that so far luckily on a national level we've done pretty good at stopping these Bills. We might even stop the UBC!

That C&R holder they just raided that had over 1,500 guns in his private collection might have spurred this latest attack if that's what it is. I don't know if it was a legitimate raid or not but I'm sure it caught some people's eye.

They seem to be talking about those deadly "assault weapons" that we gave the South Koreans known as M1 Carbines. This is their self-righteous justification for not allowing them back into the country.

During Obama's "findings" from Bidens investigation one of the items he wanted added to a new AWB would be the removal of the 50-year rule from C&R firearms.

I certainly look forward to the possibility of G3/fal type rifles with no trigger packs or converted to semi-auto some how.. but thats probably just me dreaming...

"eliminate restrictions that allow"?

Torturing the English language to arrive at the conclusion they want. What they mean is to change the law to stop imports of collectable guns allowed under current law.

The key words here are, "dangerous weapons." Hence, as all guns are dangerous weapons, they will eliminate all gun importation.

The guy probably had gotten into collecting Mausers ...

Yet they were selling them through the mail to anyone who wasn't physically sitting in a mental institution or prison back in the 60s ... and there weren't school shootings every day.

Happygeek,

I believe that is the same place that Lee Harvey Oswald got his rifle.

yeah, maybe. so? He could have got his gun at a WesternAuto store for all that.
The problem wasn't the gun nor the source, but the criminal.

I think C&R transfers and importation of surplus firearms are two separate issues. The usual antis have long opposed any gun importation.

The mention of "age" in Holder's remarks signifies C&R. But most C&R supply comes from imports. So I see the issues as related.

He wasn't C&R; he was FFL08 importer. And if the warrant app is even 10% correct, he was VERY shady.

Oh, I agree completely...its not the song, its the singer.

That magazine advertisement just looked really familiar.
