I am one of those unfortunate people who is having my privately purchased health insurance policy cancelled because of the Obamacare Law. I an self employed and pay for my own insurance. I was told by my carrier, Blue Cross / Blue Shield, that my policy was being dropped because I purchased it just after the March 23, 2010 cutoff date, which means I am not grandfathered in. To buy my way back in and get a plan that has the SAME benefits I already had will now cost me an extra $200 a month! This doesn't even include the new federal tax Obama is adding to private insurance plans. Thanks, Obama.

I'll have to raise my deductible and increase my copay to help soften the blow, but my point is this. Had Obama allowed me to keep my hard-earned $200 per month, I could have purchased a very nice $800 firearm every four months.

Given what you're losing because of Obamacare, what firearms WOULD you have purchased during the first year of the *Affordable* (cough-cough) Care Act? If you don't know what your loss is, use my numbers. What firearms would you have purchased at the end of 2014 if Obama hadn't taken $2,400 from you?

Don't know, but my insurance went down about $350/month.

FYI, BC/BS is one of the worst carriers out there. Shop around. You might come out ahead.

There is no way my expense is going down. I'm in good health and they need my premiums to cover the cost of people with preexisting conditions. Carriers are no longer allowed to ask health questions now with regard to coverage, only if you smoke. Everyone is lumped together in the same pool. That means healthy people pay more and sick people pay less. That's my reward for living a healthy lifestyle -- getting punished by Obamacare and giving up three $800 firearms per year.

Not sure this one will stay open. However if you ask me what I will buy in a year with $2400 this is my list. (Subject to change)

Walther PPK ($600)
S&W bodyguard 380 ($400)
Magnum Research baby eagle 45 acp ($600)
Ruger Single 6 or 10 ($500)
$300 worth of reloading primers, powder, & lead

THR is for the discussion of the RTKBA and sundry gunny stuff not US domestic health care.

So, like a candle in the wind, this thread has burned out early.
