This guy just lost any chance of winning even the Democratic nomination with this satement. He will lose all pro-gun swing states and if he were to win the Democratic nomination, this would be the best chance for a Republican to win.

Thought I was reading the Onion there for a minute.

I could've sworn I heard a similar idea floated during the Dark Ages: legislate ever increasing hoops to jump through to buy a firearm then characterize the jumper as certifiably obsessive because he did so.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) this would have pre-dated the "outside of DARPA" internet so should be impossible to verify.
