Anyone know if the bullet dia. in the Winchester 45 colt cowboy action loads off the shelf is .454 or .452 like a lot of the newer guns seem to use? Doesn't say on the box.
I shoot 2nd and 3rd gen. colts and need the .454 and was wondering. I know they used to load lead bullets with the .454 but do they still?

I believe both Remington & Winchester still load the old hollow-base RN-FP bullet always used in .45 Colt.

They are very soft lead, and the base will expand to fit either bore size.

It's a whole different deal with commercial cast bullets with flat or more likely, bevel bases, as they won't bump up as easy as the soft swaged HB bullets the factorys use.
