I've developed a sudden case of "pimpgunitis". I've got it in my head that I want one of the following (in order of preference):

Nickel plated with gold accents and pearl grips

Blued with gold accents and pearl grips

Blued with gold accents and rosewood grips

<sigh>

I've held the latter one, it actually fits my hand well. This would not be a carry weapon, just a range/camp plinker and "fun" gun. Are they so bad that the <$200 retail is too much to risk?

I need therapy, bad.

I do have a slightly non-selfish reason to get one. I'd like to see if it's something my brother can handle. He only has use of one hand and doesn't really care for revolvers. I've never owned/shot a tip barrel auto before, so all I can tell him is that it might be a solution for him. That said, it's still mostly to scratch my own itch, but I can at least pretend I'm doing research for his benefit. :scrutiny:

George S. Patton once said something to the effect that "only a cheap pimp in a New Orleans whorehouse" would own a pearl handled revolver. His were ivory handled.

Perhaps an intervention is in order.

I'd prefer ivory (even faux ivory) on the blued model, but it's not an option. :cuss: ;)

I think a not so serious gun would be fun as a diversion.

If it works for my bro, there are larger, nicer models available (such as the Beretta one that goes up to 380acp).

Chris,

Well, don't tell anybody, but I hace some of those styles. They're collector pieces, but they still have all the fancy bells and whistles.
However they are all Colt 1911s, I do have a few .257s too.
Wait, I just told on myself. Oh well. :banghead: :what:

Just be careful. Next thing you know, you'll be ordering one of those fancy gold, engraved commemorative 1911s, etc. that they advertise in American Rifleman.

The one with the gold accents and rosewood grips looks da best. Be sure to get a gold toof wit dat bling, dawg.

I'd go with the nickle-plated one.....actually, I have a PT-22 in matte with rosewood. I bought it years ago and didn't care for it. It's fairly accurate out to about 10-15 yards, but I have some FTF and FTE issues every now and again. Also, I only have one mag, and can't see spending $20-$30 on another, so, I'm always on the lookout for another.

The little pistol sat in my safe for about 10 years, until I got it back out within the last 6 months to play with at the range when introducing my wife to the joys of handgun shooting. I like the gun more, now, than I did after I bought it. I don't think I could, honestly, suggest such a gun to someone, though.....then, again, it is a "little" on the fun side.

Coolest pimp gun I saw was in a Playboy article. It was a Colt Government nickeled with gold accents and real pearl grips.

Next to it was a bowl of caviar. Actually looked quite cool, though I would never own one.

Close your eyes, breath deeply...............Good. (Soothing background music!!!!)
Relax, relax..............good. Deeper, deeper............at the count of 3 you will no longer want the Taurus! Check your email and send me the gun..............
Now you are awake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You feel better! Dont you?????
Ill be waiting by my mailbox..........................God, Im good! :neener:
Shoot well........

Well, I think I've talked myself out of it. I don't need to buy another gun at the moment, especially a range plinker like this.

They sure are sexy though... :what:

Chris

41Mag, I've been looking at that revolver for over a year now. I'm planning to pick up a hammerless .38 Taurus for pocket carry, and that's the one I'm leaning towards. I'd prefer a 9mm to a .38, but the Taurus 9mm revolvers aren't hammerless--they've got spurless hammers. Plus you can't get them with the pimpin' pearl handles.

I bought a pearl handled S&W .357 magnum wheel gun for my fiance.
The gun is cute, tough and powerful...just like her!

Have a friend slap you..........hard. Then thank him, and ask him to do it again. Repeat this untill the pimp gun phase blows over.

That manly sort of BLING!

What?! :scrutiny:

Gold appointments, pearly-girly grips???

Maybe for card-carrying members of Team Way2Gay. :neener:

Nope, real men prefer the silky luster of NP3. :D

Practical and eye-catching ...

Personally I find those guns to be hideous.

But you know what? It's your money. If you want one, buy it. If anyone gives you grief about it, tell'em to ... whoops. Art's Grammaw is looking at me like she's going to whack my knuckles with a ruler.

Anyway, buy your pimpgun if you want to. Wallow in it's cheesiness. :D

This whole thread is just horribly embarressing.......OMG, I posted too... :banghead:

The only good thing that I can think of about those pistols is that I wouldn't feel bad about throwing them at my adversary when I run out of ammo.

Personally, I like these two:

http://www.taurususa.com/products/product-details.cfm?model=940SSGR&category=Pistol

Beautiful guns in real calibers-exactly right for a night out at a fancy restaraunt or other function where you have to dress up. They used to make one that was very deeply blued with the rosewood grips and the gold accents-gorgeous.

For you revolver guys, I think these fit the bill too:

And a couple of others as well. Hey, if you're taking the fairer sex out for the evening, and if guns are your thing & not hers, she'll at least appreciate the fact that your roscoe is as snazzy as you are. And she might be more apt to go shoot if she has a "pretty" one to shoot with.

Sam

I still want one of these.

Get one. The best revenge is outshooting someone at the range who gives you grief about your gun.
