If its anything like Ebay he is saving a ton of money by setting the start price at a dollar.

Check out jackthedog on AuctionArms. He starts 'em at $.01, doesn't set a reserve, and has over 2100 feedbacks w/ only one negative and two neutrals. Pretty impressive.

It's nice to see someone that's not just after some free advertising.

I would love to see a thread with nothing but links to quality sellers on gunbroker that get it. I'm sicking of looking at "no reserve" auctions where the opening bid is $10 less than what I can get it for at my local shops. In that vain, Pats Sporting Goods is another gunbroker seller who has true no reserve auctions.

I have never been burned on selling anything on an online auction at a starting bid of $1. It is just a good way to get everyone's attention. Then you might get a good pair of idiots that are so into the "win", that they end up running the price to way over what it is really worth. As long as there are a few people who want the item, it will almost always get up to market price.

I remember when I tried to sell my Rem 700 VS stock on eBay. I started it at 150 with shipping included. NO BIDS! I put it at $1 and it sold for like $125 with $10 shipping (maybe it was $135 with $10 shipping, I forget). Ever since then I have put everything for a $1. My dad's Leupold 6-20x40, $1. Sold for $425 or so. About $75 less than he paid for it and it was even painted camo! A friends Zeiss spotting scope. $1. Sold for $1025. You just can't seem to go wrong for a dollar.

Go to AuctionArms.com and you'll find plenty of folks who start out their auctions at $1.00 or even $.01.

JacktheDog,

NWARMORY,

SuperPawn sometimes starts out around $10 or so.

You can search at AuctionArms.com according to price range only.

And yes, those folks always sell their guns at good, fair prices, sometimes for more than fair when there's a piece that one guy just wants no matter what.

I believe the market will dictate the pricing when you start an auction. Everything I sell on ebay has always started at .99. Now, thats not to say that a few things have sold for less than I planned, but i believe the market will dictate the price.

Can be risky I know, but thats how I have always done it.
