I GOT ONE!!!!

So I went into a local gun shop that I go to, mainly just to kill sometime before a commitment tonight, and there was a Russian M44 sitting behind the counter. I picked her up and did some inspections on it, and the next thing I knew my credit card was on the table and I was filling out paper work. So tomarrow after 7pm ( Thank you stupid Illinois waiting period for rifles law ) I will be the proud owner of my first Mosin Nagant. : )

Thanks btw for all of your comments. I learned a bunch and got some great links for learning more.

My M-44 is a Romanian 1954 vintage. When shot near dusky-dark with the right (or wrong!) ammo, that fireball puts some muzzle-loaders to shame. :what:

Plus, with the fold-out bayo, I figure I can fend off 1 or 2 BG's while stuffing in another stripper clip of ammo...

Remember that a lot of the M-44's are more accurate with the bayonet extended. Some seem to work well with it unscrewed and removed (which takes about a minute). When it's folded it's putting pressure on the stock and barrel and changes POI.
