The popularity of smaller red dots is for reducing weight. Even L3 has tried to go compact with the EOTech XPS, but at 8 oz it's still more than twice the weight of the 3.7 oz Aimpoint Micro T1. If someone still has a functional EOTech 512 that weighs 10 oz it may not be worth it to them to spend several hundred $ to save 6 oz, but if they're buying a new sight for a new rifle the lighter weight options make sense.I don't get the push(popular style) of the new smaller/compact sights(red dot)... ...Aren't the EOtech Holotech sights good anymore?
What am I missing?

Many guns posted on Instagram have them & I guess they are good for hunting with compact rifles/SBRs.

I'm not a huge fan of the "pistol" type ARs but I'm not a huge collector or 3 gun match shooter.
Me too. Previously, I used a 7.62 Saiga with a folding stock, and intended on replacing it with another AK.I really want one as a trunk gun.
