Having personally grown up in the era of Kydex and MOLLE compatible sheaths, how did those of you from the leather years attach your knives to your load bearing gear (ALICE, etc)? I have a Kabar (which I personally believe to be a superb knife) but it comes with a leather sheath (as do many of the SOG knives I drool over). Maybe I'm just not that creative, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to securely attach it to my MOLLE gear other than 100 mph tape.....

BTW, no disrespect meant with the title:D and thanks for the help!

TXGUNSUSCG,

No offense> Being an older guy beats the alternative.

You know me from the CZ 75BD, Great gun btw.

My solution in 68 was tape - OD green. Too much rattle with other solutions.

Sorry cant be of more help.
Stay safe.

If you were not in the military it wasn't much of a problem. You hung a knife on your belt or side of your pack.

Guys my age that served in Vietnam and later used tape and paracord as described.

And GI issue boot laces.
I do believe I had an upside down Buck 110 sheath lashed on my left side Field Pack Suspenders with a GI boot lace for easy access with my right hand.

Oh, black vinyl electrical tape was used too.
I always kept a roll in my gear for all sorts of jobs like that.
Much easier to carry then a roll of 100MPH tape!

Like all the other "mature" gentlemen who carried one in the '60s I used green tape, shoelaces and anything that didn't make noise or rot off in a few days.
