Well dont know if this should go here or the research thread, but since this one deals with ammo i'll take my chances.

I recently aquired a 50 round box of "new" Speer 9mm 115gr GDHP. They are new and "never fired" haha but I was wondering if anyone could give me a relative age for them. I'm assuming fairly old because: #1 the box design, #2 the round count as most SD ammo these days is 20-25 per box and finally because it has $8 written on the back. Any ideas from some of you fellas that have been around longer than the 2.2 decades I have?

I have some of these I bought over 5 years ago on Gunbroker. Can't say how old they were before I got them.

I seem to remember them being a new design around 15 years ago or maybe a little before. They are new enough that $8 was a great price no matter when they were made. Unless they were stored in really bad conditions I would say you have some good ammo.

By the way, not positive but I believe Speer has always sold them in boxes of 50 or 20.

Thanks guys, I didnt pay $8, actually $10, but a good deal regardless. Whoever bought them to begin with though only paid $8, thats why im assuming they are so old, just because 50 gold dots today would run around a dollar per round. And ill have to see if they still sell GD's in 50 boxs, the only ones I have ever seen are the 20 rounds ones. I know speer sells the "lawman" LE traning ammo in 50 so maybe they make GD's in 50 as well for LE only?
