Anyone notice in some of the pictures from Haiti most of the troops are carrying M1 .30 cal Garands. We must have had a bunch of them laying around and where better to dump them. Did not see any 1903 springfields. I hope they dont give them back to CMP to sell.

That was the first thing I noticed. For some strange reason it was cool to see all of these kids running around with Garands. Really I don't know if "cool" is the word for it, but interesting nonetheless.

It's nice to know that I wasn't seeing things. I thought I saw someone using a M1 but the image wasn't on the screen that long. It doesn't surprise me though, it's still an effective weapon after 60 years. Didn't Patton say something about firepower being one well placed round?

... saw some M14's in the news today too.

(The guys even kept his finger off of the trigger. Sort of interesting.)

Their logistics guy must be a genius. Given all the totally different rifles they're using. M-1's, FN's, M-14's, H&K's. What a nightmare.

logistics guy
That hilarious- I'm pretty sure these guys don't have much of a standard TOE. Sort of like 'Hey we're going to go attack the police station!' 'Great! Can I come too? I've got a rifle!' 'Sure but you need to have your won ammo!' 'Let's GO! But first let's smoke a fatty!'

These guys look like the poster children for 'disorganized rebel forces'.

The CMP got several of the Haitian Garands on the last go around. They were disassembled for parts.

There is a thread about the Haitian Garands on the CMP forum.

Rebel forces eh?

Seems like a good time for the ruling govt to flood the market with some really crappy ammo. Perhaps some Indian Surplus. :D

Actually I remember reading somewhere about the folks actually planting seriously overloaded cartridges as part of sabotage.

But first let's smoke a fatty!'

If they do I bet their battles all go in slooooooooooow motion. Kinda like the Matrix flicks where everything is at 1/100 speed. :D
