A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away .... Ft. Bliss Texas in 1971, to be specific, I bought a new MEC 650 12-ga shotshell loader. Before the Army joined me, I used to shoot quite a lot of trap, and the Univ of Iowa Gun Club had one that we could load with.
To make a long story short, I got orders for Italy about the time it arrived, and have been traveling almost constantly ever since. Just last Spring, we settled down and I finally had time to take up trapshooting again. The 650 had been stored in it's box for more than 40 years. Yesterday, I got some primers, Clays powder, wads, and shot, set up the ol' girl, and proceeded to load a couple of hundred 40+ year old AA hulls.
The machine worked like a champ! Nothing needed adjusting, and by the time I got the sixth shell in, out came the prettiest AA reload, almost looking like a new factory shell. Needless to say, I'm tickled spitless with the MEC, and am greatly looking forward to shooting my reloads once again Wednesday night at the next local trap shoot.
