Old revolver ID

Does anyone have any idea where I could get info on this old pistol?

It's not mine but looking to find out some history and possibly worth for a friend.

No decernable markings.

Where would I start?

The owner passed. His son sent this pic to my friend.

The cap and ball Revolver?

I think it is a Manhattan Pocket Model, probably Series I, about 1000 made.
In spite of the name, made in Newark, New Jersey 1858-1860.

I can't appraise but value not real high what with no finish, engraving, or company markings.

I forwarded the link to my friend.

It's his buddy that found this pistol stored away in his father's belongings after the father passed.

He relayed to me that there were no markings
but may not have known where to.look.

His mother never knew the dad had this gun so any history of how he came into possession of it is gone.

Outwardly by the photo, it doesn't appear to be in good shape.

Well, it is worn and "patinated" (slightly rusty) but it is all there and it is an uncommon gun.
Does not necessarily mean "If it is old it is gold" but it is still a neat heirloom.
