It makes me realize just how long I have been around. I remember all these things and more. How about walking down the main street of your hometown at age 12 or 13, (don't remember which) with your 22 slung over your shoulder, encountering the local police officer, and after telling him where you were going, (to the woods) having him tell you to be careful and have fun. I would love to see the reaction to this scenario today between a youngster and the cops of today. Does the phrase "UP against the car MF and assume the position, ring a bell?

Sad thing is that even if it was in its case, the officer would hassle the 12 year old about it and if the youngster was lucky he would be "escorted" home or if veeerrrrrryyyyy lucky, to his hunting spot. I could actually see that by a local sherrif's deputy, they seem to be really nice and "country educated".
