Can I use slugs in an older but otherwise good condition A5? Will the choke size matter?

Kinda want to honor my FiL using his gun to bring home Bambi.

Thanks
Greg

Spare Auto5 (not A5- that is a totally different gun) barrels aren't rare on Ebay, though they are a bit pricey. Im considering buying one for mine and cutting it down to remove the choke restriction , as well as make it handier for HD use.

I know many people shoot slugs from full-choke bores without the gun blowing up, but I don't feel comfortable doing it. Most, if not all, choked Auto 5 barrels aren't safe for steel birdshot either.

Also make sure to rearrange your friction rings before shooting slugs from an Auto5.

My father bought a second barrel for his A5 that took choke tubes. He killed his first deer with that setup when we lived in Ohio a slug only state at the time
