sincere props to the editors of that clip.......because they have managed to make 10 meter rifle look more exciting than any action movie ive ever seen......and that im sure was not an easy task.

College smallbore is actually shot at 50ft. Air rifle is shot at 10m. The target you see is a MegaLink electronic target which can be used for either discipline. Electronic targets are great because you don't have to move your natural point of aim between shots, and it's kind of like adding a touch of video games to shooting.

yeah, i just tend to lump the two in the same category since there is really not much difference between the two ranges.......

and the electronic targets are great and horrible at the same time........great in the fact that you can shoot all day and not spend a dime, and that you have a digital catalog of pretty much everything youve done.......

.....but they are absolute hell when the software begins to act up when you just spend 30min. getting dressed and into position and the last thing to want to do is fuss with software.

You can go to collegerifle.com for more info on college shooting. Also, chech the West Virginia rifle team site for some interviews they have on there.

Wow, very well done indeed. The sound effects of the bolt closing were a bit cliche, but at least they meshed well with the action.

Listening to just the audio, it sounds like they recorded many of the sounds and then cranked up the volume. The leather and canvas of her coat creeking as she gets into position is what makes me think that. That's a sound usually only you the shooter hear. Maybe the person beside you.

Shucks...when I was in college, the only shooting sport we had was the annual Nerf dart-gun shootout in the mens' dorm.

I've gotta get my daughter to watch this. Do any Texas schools have a womens' rifle team that takes it as serious as Ole Miss?

Q

TCU became the first all female team to win the NCAA Championship this past March. UTEP also has a strong program. Look at the list of programs at collegerifle.com for links to programs accross the country. And a little more tease for you, there are scholarships for collegiate rifle, just like any other collegiate sport.

That video was awesome. I bet that brings in some new blood!

I started shooting early, but what sealed it for me was being on my high school ROTC smallbore team in 1966 & 67. I still love smallbore and keep an Anschutz close by. You never outgrow your need for 3P !!

Good movie making in a good cause. Now if that could jut be brought mainstream.
