It felt good to open up on a couple of old computers at a friend's farm some years ago, so I can sort of understand the urge to do that......

very understandable... except for the part where he goes to jail. the OWNER, in HIS bar, shoots HIS laptop, hangs it on HIS wall??? in jail for the weekend on suspicion.. that laptop must have a very good lawyer

Just as well all your guys' other crime is solved so the police can deal with the big issues like this eh?

There are some risks, doing things like this. Shooting a hard, laminated object can produce unpredictable deflections and possibly a dangerous ricochet. On a formal range it is easier to control than a bar.

1) Be mindful of what you are shooting and where you are shooting it.
2) Be mindful of the legal angle also, with regards to the place where you discharge the firearm and whether you may fall foul of local laws.
