On loaded chamber indicators.

The LCI on the SIG SP2022 was the reason I sold it. Otherwise great gun.. some doofus just stuck a massive LCI on it that intruded into the sight picture.

As for counting on a LCI, nope. If I don't know the condition of the gun, it's pickup drill time. "what is this gun, how does it operate? I don't know. Tap, rack, good to go"

I'm not crazy about the loaded chamber indicators. In my opinion, they create an additional part that can snag and they also unnecessarily impede proper cleaning of the breach face.

My brother has a Sig P2022. In his search to find a holster for it, he had some issue because of the LCI. I can't remember the company but the Sig would not fit in the holster loaded. He had to send the holster back to the company 2 or 3 times so they could get it cut right to accommodate the LCI. In the end the holster works around the LCI.

It is just my training and background with guns, It would never occur to me to check a(n) LCI, before an engagement or otherwise. If there is imminent business, bump in the night, etc., I am more prone to racking the slide to put a fresh round under the firing pin, or if there is sufficient light, pinching the slide to check. By the way, LCI also shows a failure to extract.

Loaded chamber indicators are a feature I can live with or live without. I've never seen one that caused a malfunction. They do add 5 points to the score imported firearms must attain.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but on autoloaders I like LCIs and manual safeties. I know, I know... Know the condition, safe handling, etc. I'm always careful in respect to all aspects of firearms handling and safety but I'm not immune to making mistakes. Sometimes it's nice to have a tactile or visual reassurance.

Also, like others have said, I've never had a failure or snag or any issue caused by a LCI. They can be a little annoying when cleaning a breech face but I think they're worth that minor annoyance
