I bought a 1911R1S a few years ago. The hammer pin hole was off angle. The mainspring housing, though functional, was horribly undersized and loose. The feed ramp was like a washboard. I didn't expect to get any different on the ms housing, or the feed ramp, really, but I wanted a new hammer. Remington wouldn't just send me one, but wanted me to send it to a third party warranty shop (they apparently don't do gunsmith repairs in-house). I didn't want to do that, of course, and I found someone who happened to have new Remington hammers, so, for $29, I fixed it myself. I also smoothed off the feed ramp, replaced the mainspring housing, and did some other work to it (by the way, the Remington sight dovetails are NOT standard!), and I now have a gun that I actually like. But if I were starting over again, I would choose a different brand.
