Well like the title says...I was able to pick up a Nighthawk GRP this week. I would not normally buy a gun this expensive, but I saved up a nice pile by using my existing ammo, selling a gun or two, and not being able to regularly shop for new guns.

I have a TRP and it is a great gun, but after shooting my buddies Nighthawk Agent I realized that the Nighthawk was definitely a step above the TRP. Being in CA my choices were limited, but my local dealer called one day and told me that he had a couple of GRP's coming in. I jumped at the GRP and was able to bring it home today.

I put some new shoes on it tonight and can't wait to get it out to the desert for some shooting. The kids get all my attention this weekend, but maybe next week I can get away.

I feel very grateful to have such a nice gun and it is a true testament that American craftsmanship is alive and well!

You've got a great 1911 there! And those grips set it off perfectly! Let us know how it does after your first range visit with it.

I moved from Cali in December, there isn’t much to choose from for civilians on the CA DOJ gun roster, but there are some good roster choices for a premium 1911 from Nighthawk, Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, and Les Baer, and you can get a Dan Wesson PM7 which is still being made for the CA market, the similar PM45 for the rest of the US is hard to find, last time I checked anyway.
