One last thing: it may sound counter-intuitive, but people with wrist pain exist who can shoot a larger gun 9mm easier than a smaller one in .380. I know this sounds absurd, but trust me, it happens. I particular I'm talking about a Beretta 92 versus my 1911-380.
Blowback action pistols have a harder recoil than most 9mm’s. Most 9mm pistols have a delayed unlocking action making recoil actually softer.
My wife has had Carpal Tunnel surgery on both wrists along with shoulder surgery. We discovered that she can shoot S&W M&P 4.25” Barrel 9mm comfortably. Since it is too large for her to conceal carry I took a chance and brought her a 9mm Shield for a present which she also can comfortably shoot.
I am not much of a fan of plastic frame striker handguns However she loves both of them and a Colt Police Positive Special that I brought for her several years ago sits unused in the vault. I may drink the kool-aid someday and get a M&P 45 for myself.
