I have seen a few examples of that out there. All the snubs come in that way (GCA 68?), then they get turned off before retail. Occasionally one gets missed.

So Taurus does that to skirt the import law? I doubt they turn them off. Probably more like cut it off and use a crowning tool to clean it up.

Some people seem to think "rare" equates to valuable. A Yugo is rare, but it sure isn't valuable. Now goofy, I might pay a little more for goofy.
I'd definitely pay a little more for ugly.

That is not a desirable factory mistake. When S&W failed to engrave that ridiculous classic garbage on the barrel of my 629, now that was a desirable mistake...

If a factory mistake makes a Taurus rare and valuable then there are a lot of rare and valuable Taurus guns running around out there. And I like Taurus. Never had a bad one. But I have seen photos of some real factory screw ups before. They happen and Taurus lets them get out of the door.

I remember one Taurus 83 that I imported from Germany that had Hammerli Tiengen markings on it that was as perfect as a revolver can be and was everything so many post 1970 S&W revovlers fail to be.

The seller (FFL) probably put it on GB because he didn't want the headache of returning it to Taurus. He figured somebody might jump on it if it was described as "rare"
