When I developed the TLX, durability wasn't the primary design parameter. Including mount, this is a can that weighs just 4.3 ounces in 9mm, 4.1 ounces in .45 cal, light enough to be used without a booster on most hosts. That was the objective.

Before we put it out there, though, we did our usual testing to make sure it was tough enough. That consisted of 3x 72 round drum mag dumps on our Suomi submachine gun (900-1,000 RPM), immediately followed by some shots on our 18" RFB .308. Took it like a champ. But ever since then, I've been beating the crap out of that same 9mm one and a .45 version. The .45 cal went on our .45-70 and took loads with a 405 gr. bullet being pushed by 60.0 grs. H335. The 9mm one, the same can we got scorching hot on the Suomi, we got even hotter with mag dumps on a 10.5" 5.56 AR, and repeated mag dumps on our 16" full auto AK47. Today I thought for sure I'd kill it on a 22" .300 winchester magnum bolt rifle. But no. Not terribly quiet on that host, but it didn't disassemble like I expected. Doesn't even show signs of wanting to let go. Short of melting it, I'm not sure what it's gonna take to actually kill these things!

And no, we don't rate this little 1.3x6.5" suppressor for the things we do to torture test it, but it is rated for some high velocity rifle rounds and all pistol cartridges that will fit through the respective bores.

Without the 1/2 ounce aluminum mount:

On the rifles, you see a couple shiny pieces at the rear. The gold colored 17-4 stainless piece is our Alpha Gyrex adapter, and the titanium piece between that and the can is our Alpha extension, as there's not enough room in the blast chamber for the muzzle brakes on these rifles with the adapter alone. TLX was never meant to accommodate such things!

I'm probably going to throw it on the .375 RUM next, most likely the .45 cal one, since .375 cal is getting pretty big to put through a 9mm bore.

OK, it is sturdy. How quiet is it vs other patterns?

We have found it to exceed the performance of similarly sized suppressors. There are, of course, larger & longer 9mm cans that may outperform it at muzzle end, which is sometimes of consideration on manual action hosts, but on autoloaders, the port noise typically dominates at-ear SPL with this model. Glocks and other striker fired guns, for example, have shorter lock times than many hammer fired pistols and tend to be perceptibly louder due to the breech opening sooner.

Making the at-ear levels from the attenuated muzzle end SPL just a little below the port noise SPL on the quieter hosts like 1911s and S&W 3rd gens was among the design paramters, since this is first and foremost meant to be a pistol can that is able to run without a booster. We have larger & longer models for guys chasing decibels on manual action hosts where there is no port noise and no impedement to function or usability with increased weight and diameter.
